Chapter 46We found a spot not too far from the pier where the fishing boat was moored. The area looked deserted and the only thing they could see in the distance was the lights of some houses on the other side of the river – they must have been miles away, though, judging by the dimension of their outline against the horizon. The evening heat was damp and the calmness of the surroundings dawned on them once Mark turned off the motor. It was only then that we realized the noise they must have made earlier as they passed their quarry would have alerted anyone watching the waters.
