“Fourfeet, how do I send message back to pow man?” Iris asked.
“Solomon, Klein Miesies, only Solomon.”
“What if I write something, can you get it to Solomon for me?”
“It very scary there, Klein Miesies. Solomon says bad colonel always looking.” Fourfeet turned his head quickly, eyes wide in demonstration. “We must be sneaky.”
“Good idea. But how, Fourfeet? I am an awful spy.”
“Solomon takes out all pow-rubbish, Klein Miesies. He is only black man there. Pow people do everything but can’t collect rubbish and take it out of camp, because in and out and in and out of gate, pow people can run away. So Solomon puts rubbish on donkey and takes it out of camp when guards open.”
“So that means Solomon starts off outside the camp and goes inside?”
