Since Elias had football practice after school, she asked Troy for a lift. Elias was afraid about his father finding out that he was driving the car, despite being told not to drive. Thus, he asked Selena to drive back home, but Selena convinced him to take the car and promised if Mr. Knight found out somehow about it, she would take all the responsibility.
