On her way to Mendy's, Selena received a message from Matt. He couldn't make it because he had to take care of something. He apologized and promised that later he would make it up to her. Even though he didn't explain the situation, Selena knew by the text that it had to do something with his mother. So, she texted him that she understands and he don't need to apologize, followed by a few smiley face emojis with a take care at the end.
Since he wasn't coming and Selena felt it would be kind of awkward and sad to sit in a diner and have brunch alone, she decided to go back home. On her way, she went to a local café to buy some muffins and a cup of coffee to calm her growling stomach.
