Selena woke up to a thunderclap and sat up straight just as the lightning peeked through her bedroom curtains with a sudden flash. For a second everything in her room turned bright white, before fading back into the cold darkness. She looked around the room and grabbed her chest, breathing uncomfortably. Her heart was pounding against her chest, louder than the thunder outside in heaven. Her back was covered with sweat and her throat started to feel like sandpaper. She once again looked around, breathing heavily as once again thunder sparked, and her room glowed white.
