Emma was still working, but today she noticed that David was different from usual. Normally, if he wasn’t calling her in to do this, he would be asking her to do that. David always knew how to make Emma frustrated with her job, hoping she would quit, but today, he didn’t do that.
Emma suspected that he might have finally figured things out, that he no longer intended to get rid of her. She had been working very hard, and on the days when David didn’t come to the office, she managed all the tasks in the best possible way.
David was in his office, looking over all the documents that had been handled. He had a different view of Emma now.
