Chapter 22
Ken stood in the center of the little town with just one talisman hanging from her neck. The rest were stowed away in her room. She would be able to personally use any talisman she wanted, even after turning them off for everyone else. The other inhabitants of Kenna’s Crossing gathered around her, leaving several meters of space between them and her. Even her dad and Rada didn’t dare approach, and she told them not to. All they had to do was hold out their talismans so she could see them. The non-wielders didn’t even have to be there. But their curiosity and interest in supporting her took precedent. Yuuki never once took her eyes off of Ken.
With a big sigh, she murmured the evocation. “Te’laud eta ma.”
Dust from the ground lifted up and pressed toward her before veering off
