Chapter 4 They pulled into an empty parking garage and hid the car behind a wall of cement and ivy. The trio didn’t dare go up a level for fear of a cave-in, but there wasn’t a good natural place to hide, either. Raz took to driving surprisingly well for a kid who’d never done it before yesterday. He needed a little coaching to go fast on some of the trickier roads, but other than that? He seemed like a natural. Which was important, because Ken could no longer put any pressure at all on her foot, nor did she particularly enjoy being upright for long. And neither of them really trusted their third wheel all that much, despite her reasonable temperament. He said it helped that there were no other moving cars on the road. The morning was an unhappy one for all involved. They were hungry.
