Alpha Ryker, the Alpha of Darkwood pack, the most feared of all the werewolves packs in the eastern part of the world, was perched on his pad in the royal hall, with two hefty pack soldiers surrounding him. His ferocious blue eyes shone brightly as he read through the words of spells he was given days ago to learn, by the Shaman. He had been learning too much and he was bored already. Stretching his long arms forward, he motioned to one of the guards to hand him the scroll that was on the wooden table.
The scroll was given to him and as he read through, he heard footsteps approaching him. He hoisted his head to see who owned the footsteps and they turned out to be Talon, his younger brother who was also the beta, and, Adira the late gamma's daughter, who was the greatest female warrior in the pack, she was the gamma too, taking after her father's position.
Talon stood tall in front of Ryker, slightly bowing his head in deference, he asked. "How are you preparing for tonight?"
"We are all happy you are finally going to mark a mate after these years of mounting the throne as the Alpha." Adira mugged, taking a seat on one of the chairs that surrounded the long tables in the Alpha's quarters.
Talon drew out a chair and perched on it too, he stared at his brother, patiently waiting for him to say a word.
"The shaman already answered your questions," Ryker replied in a bored tone. They smiled, remembering the shaman's prediction last year. He had prophesied that Ryker would mark a mate this year. His eyes squinted as he noticed that both Talon and Adira had the same white hair. It was never like that, Talon had brown hair. "What happened to your hair though?" He gave him a lopsided grin.
"Adira and I wanted to try out something." Talon stared apologetically into Adira's eyes.
"I see," Ryker scoffed. "Is there something vital happening in the pack that I need to know about?" He demanded.
"Nothing yet, everywhere is peaceful and everyone is waiting for you to mark your mate. They want a Luna." Talon relaxed on the chair he was seated on.
"Talking about the Luna," Adira drawled, her eyes meeting with Talon's and Ryker's. "You haven't presented her the gift that the Alpha gives to his prospective Luna on the evening before the marking ceremony. You know she must wear the trinkets before you mark her as yours."
Ryker had completely forgotten about the trinket gift. His eyes fluttered in worry, nodding his head. "Sometimes I just feel so blessed to have you with me."
"Do you want to visit her now? We will go with you." Talon offered.
"You two are always going with me, but don't worry, I want to visit her alone. I wish to be alone with my mate before the marking ceremony commences." Ryker rose to his feet and took a step forward. "Go check the venue for the ceremony for me, make sure everywhere and everything is well arranged and..." He touched his brother's shoulders gently and rubbed them down to his chest. "You two should stop pretending," he said, referring to Talon and Adira. "Mark her already, everyone knows you're both in love with each other, and why not? She's your destined mate."
Talon shifted back and Adira blushed in embarrassment.
"Ryker, you should go see your mate now." Adira got up and walked breezily to his side, hauling Ryker out of the room, he jokingly yelped for help. His brother and Adira were the ones who knew that side of him. Others know him to be vicious and they feared him.
"I will see you later," Ryker said to the both of them when he stepped out. "Keep an eye on the pack and be vigilant." With that said, he walked away.

Everything felt different as Ryker walked the pack manor with his hands dangling behind his back. The atmosphere outside was serene, omegas sprinted from every corner, getting busy with one thing or the other. The few ones who recognized him bowed to greet him when they saw him, he blessed them and they got back to work immediately.
He had been the Alpha for five years now, right after the demise of his father. It'd been an arduous task for him, but he tried his very best to make sure his pack stood out from other packs. They worked hard to provide everything for themselves, they were the richest pack in the eastern part of the world and every other pack depended solely on them for many things.
Ryker had been praised for doing a great job. Even though some of them identified him as ferocious, he knew that he wasn't, he was just doing all he could to keep the bad werewolves away from his pack and sometimes he killed the rogues who tried to invade his pack.
No one saw that those wolves he killed were the bad ones, they just blamed him for always killing.
He arrived at his mate's quarters, a part of the pack had been set aside to harbor his mate since the marking preparations started. She was to stay there until the night he would finally and openly pronounce her as his mate. He felt a surge of excitement rush through him as he proceeded into the chambers.
He had known Milly since they were little pups. She was the most beautiful woman in the Darkwood pack. She was popular for her beauty, her alluring hazel eyes, long legs that made her steps elegant, her divine body frame; she was the perfect definition of slim-thick in a delicious way.
Her father was also the pack's beta and a close friend of the Alpha, Ryker's father, before he died. They never really knew they were mates until one full moon when their mate bond grew stronger than ever. Of all the female wolves present at the pack's feast that night, Ryker badly yearned for her and she did too. That night they sealed their fate by aggressively mating with each other and since then, they've grown fonder of each other.
He was some steps closer and could feel anxiety clouding him. He smiled, grabbed the doorknob, and opened the door to see his beautiful mate, the one who had managed to capture his heart. Ryker was all smiles as he stepped in, but the next scene he saw threw him off balance. He stepped back and wiped his eyes to be sure of what he was seeing.
Milly was on top of one of the werewolves he recognized as a pack soldier. She was passionately straddling him, both seemed to be so engrossed in making love to each other because they were oblivious to his scent, his steps, and the faint sounds he made with his gasps.
"Milly!" Ryker yelled painfully. His chest hurt from the sight of his mate making love to someone else. He quickly backed them.
Milly flinched when she saw Ryker, she jumped off the other wolf's d**k and threw his clothes at him. "Get out," she yelled at the soldier.
He ran out without hesitations, Ryker wanted to kill him for defiling his mate, he wanted to go after him and crush him to death, but it took all the resilience in him to refrain himself from doing that.
"How dare you, Milly?" He stepped forward. "How dare you cheat on me?" Ryker growled, and his wolf did too. They were both hurt because their mate had cheated on them.
"I am sorry," Milly said in a shaky voice. "I didn't know what came over me, I am sorry." She fell at his feet, pleading as tears gushed out her eyes.
"Let go of me, you w***e!" Ryker howled. "I thought I found something good, didn't know you were a whore." He stared disdainfully at her.
Milly hung her head in shame, she had no idea the Alpha would visit anytime soon. She cussed at herself for being so foolish not to shut the door, then she remembered that she did, she locked the door, but Ryker had spare keys to every room in the pack manor.
"I can no longer mark you, I can't have a w***e for a mate. Milly, whenever I try to claim you tonight, please reject me."
"No, Alpha. Please forgive me," Milly begged him.
"Milly, I am saying this again. Reject me tonight when I want to claim you. After the ceremony, I will discuss your punishment with the counsel, goodbye for now." He flounced out of the room, a bad countenance marring his expression. He was done with her, he knew that for sure.
Milly sprawled out on the floor and burst into tears. She had disgraced her father and ruined everything she had worked for over the years, she had ruined what she had worked for all her life with just a moment of pleasure.
