You Will Fall In Love

1195 Words
Alpha Ryker pelted towards the forest in his wolf form. He was devastated as he paced around the thick bushes in the forest. He arrived at a deserted part and halted, shifting back into his human form, he crouched down on one of the thick branches of a tree and reached for his pocket to get hold of the golden trinket his father gave him to give to his mate on the day he would mark her. He rocked it in his hand, his chest burning with pain. He got off the tree, and walked toward the part of the forest that was enveloped in moving water, he looked to the sky and yelled out. "Never will I trust a woman again, never will I love again. Never!" He screamed out in bitterness, roaring. His wolf groaned, agreeing with what he said. They were done with love. Even if his wolf was insatiable, he'd try to control him. The trinket was still in his hand, he looked into the water, "I am sorry father, but I don't think I am ever going to find a mate, this trinket is as good as useless. I think this is where I have to part with it." He set it in the air and was about to throw it into the moving water when a wolf hurriedly hurtled past him. He flinched, not because he was scared, but because was surprised a wolf had invaded his space. He was certain no one knew about that part of the forest that he always visited whenever he needed to relapse. He quickly shoved the trinket back into the pocket of his royal robe. Carefully observing the environment for a few minutes, he didn't see the wolf anymore. He heaved a sigh. Maybe he was hallucinating, maybe he was so heartbroken he now saw things in the spiritual. He walked back to the river bank and started with his declaration. "I will never find a woman, I will never find love, I will never…" "You will find love," a voice interrupted him. He slowly turned back to see who dared to invade his space. His eyes landed on a female with a slender frame; her curly dark hair caught his eyes in the dark; Ryker could make good use of his vision even in the darkest hours of the night. The intruder flipped her hair, she quickly rolled the hair into folds and packed the strands with a hairband. She smiled when she noticed his eyes were still ogling her body. Half of her body was covered in her wolf form; a black wolf with brown fur. She quickly shifted into her full human form and slipped on her clothes while he looked away. When she was done, she threw her hands to the back and matched towards him with coordinated gaits. "You will find love again," she repeated, still smiling. "You will not just fall in love, you will fall madly in love." She looked so sure as she stared at the stars that brightened the sky. "Don't utter words to offend the moon goddess. She gave you a woman to love." Alpha Ryker was dumbfounded. This woman in front of him dared to invade his space and now she was standing in front of him, altering his words by telling him he would fall in love. She sure exuded a great level of confidence. "Who are you?" He asked, his blue eyes burning into her amber-green eyes. "I should ask you that. Who are you? This is the first time I am seeing you here." She grimaced, taunting the Alpha as she walked around him. "This is my place. You intruded, who are you?" He asked again. "I don't have an answer to give to you." She shrugged her shoulders and focused her eyes on the moon. "The moon tonight is bright, why did you make such a nasty declaration on a full moon like this?" She queried. "Not any of your business," Ryker disparaged. He was mad she didn't show the tiniest bit of respect to him. She even dared to stand close to him and query him. He fumed with anger. But she said something he wished to know about, not that he was interested. "Why did you alter my words? Who are you to tell me that I will fall madly in love?" "You don't have to know who I am. I know you will fall in love because I can see it. Love is ahead of you. You will find it soon." She smiled again. Ryker was mad but he couldn't deny that she smiled beautifully. Her smile was a balm to soothe a wound. He shook the thoughts off his head. "Which pack do you belong to?" He asked. "I do not belong to anyone, I am just on my own." She swiveled around, taking a step forward. She was standing close to him now. She looked into his eyes, "that's it in your eyes," she muttered, wagging her fingers in front of him. "What's in my eyes?" He asked, confused. "Love, that's love in your eyes." She winked, backing away from him. "What?" He sneered. "Don't be ridiculous." "I am not, I am just telling you what I can see in your eyes." "Are you some soothsayer or what?" He scoffed. If he were to be in his usual mood, he wouldn't have let her get close to him and he would have punished her for daring to look into the Alpha's vicious eyes. No one ever did that, he was respected by everyone in the Darkwood pack and far beyond his pack. His name was known far and wide in the werewolf communities. Not an ordinary woman had the right to talk to him the way the woman in front of him was talking fearlessly to him. "I am more than a soothsayer," she smiled again. "Then, who are you?" "Who are you?" She retorted, her eyes gleaming with smiles. "I am…" He was interrupted by the growling sound of her wolf. "I have to go now," she hurriedly shifted into her wolf form and hared off before he could stop her. Ryker was dumbstruck, she was gone within a twinkle of an eye. He wondered who she was and if what she said was true. She smiled a lot, but her eyes held so much seriousness when he gazed into them. She was different, he had never felt so much peace as he felt when she was with him. She spoke her words so calmly, her smile was heart-melting. "Is she some goddess?" He whispered to himself. He had read some books about some fairy taking the wolf and human form just to come and convince people whenever they were about to make a decision. "I think she's one of them." He said in a final tone, there was no further debate about her. She was a fairy who just came around to distract him. He held onto that deduction that she was a fairy, but deep down he wanted to see her again, he wanted to know who she was.
