After finally finding sleep, dispite being freaked out over seeing the strange man in my room, I dream. Not good dreams, more like nightmares, people with stripped back faces and shadows looming over me, I wake up with a small scream.
Realizing I’m ok and in my own bed, I calm down when I hear a knock at my door, dragging myself from my bed I open the door to find Michael standing there not looking his cocky self.
“What do you want?” I half asked half moan.
Looking a little unsure he starts, “just making sure you’re ok.” Now I must have looked shocked because he continues “I know we don’t always get along but J, what the f**k happened, I mean you must be freaking out.” He starts pacing outside my door.
“Yeah I’m freaked, and you know you’re not helping with your strange niceness and pacing.. oh my god can you stop!” I snapped.
Just like that Micheal stops pacing, for a moment he just stares at me before shaking his head and waking away. I hear him mutter something about being crazy but I couldn’t care less.
I go back into my room slamming the door I decide to get ready for school, by now everyone is going to know about Tim and that we were with him when he was murdered.
Great!

I finally get to school after Janet was done fussing over me, I mean I know she means well, but it’s not helping any. Making my way to my locker I keep my head down, and don’t bother looking for my friends. I doubt any of them will be here today, I just couldn’t stand sitting at the home and being watched by Janet.
I’m getting my book out of my locker when I hear someone clear their throat, looking up I see the most gorgeous person that I think has ever lived ever. Ever.
“Hi” I say as I close my locker, “you’re new” it’s not a question, I know because this is a small high school and a small town. Everyone knows everything even when you wish they didn’t and they never forget.
“Hi yeah” he starts in a deep voice. “I was just wondering if you could point me in the direction of the office?” He smiles.
“Yeah of course. It’s on my way. Come on.” I say waving him in the right direction. I can see his eyes keep looking at me but trying not to stare. Honestly I am doing the same, he has dark almost black hair, grey stormy eyes and he’s at least a foot taller then me with wide shoulders. Then again I’m only 5.1 so it’s not hard to be a lot taller than me.
He clears his throat again, “I’m Eddie” he awkwardly puts out his hand for me to shake, which I do but it’s at a wired angle and I can’t help the little laugh I let out.
“Jj I’m Jj” he raises his eyebrows for a second just looking at me.
“Jj that’s a girls name now” he says.
I know he doesn’t mean anything by it but I have to say something. “It’s the 21st century I can have whatever name I choose.” I declare.
Eddie laughs a sweet little laugh before saying, “no I like it” we stop walking at we stand outside the office.
“We’re here” and I point to the desk.
Eddie looks at it then back at me, he nods his head as if unsure on what to do.
“Jupiter” I say, he frowns absolutely no idea what I am talking about. “Jupiter it’s my name but everyone calls me Jj.” I clarify.
“Oh..wow.. I like it even more than Jj.” He states not looking away from my eyes once.
Before I have a chance to say anything else I hear a familiar voice “Jj” Ryan calls.
Both me and Eddie look up to see Ryan running towards us, Eddie smiles an awkward smile.
Before Ryan gets to us I whisper to Eddie, “don’t tell anyone, my name!”
Eddie nods smiling a little easier.
“Hey ryan” I say as he puts a hand on my cheek and pulling me close with the other.
“Hey you ok? How you doing?” He ask stoking my face while looking Eddie up and down. I don’t know what he thinks he’s doing, we’re never public about what’s going on with us, is he just trying to make a point?
Like I would be trying to pick up guys after everything that’s happened, not that it matters what ryan thinks.
I push Ryan away a little bit and direct my attention back to Eddie who is not looking too happy. “I hope you get on ok, it was nice to meet you.”
I smile.
Ryan notices.
Eddie smiles back and notices Ryan noticing.
Eddie smiles more.
Cheeky!
I hold back how much I want to smile right now, “come on Ryan, we have history.”
Me and Ryan start walking, it’s only a few doors always, Ryan keeps looking back.
“You ok?” I ask.
Finally focusing, Ryan reply’s, “no not really, what the hell happened last night man?”
Before I can answer he continues, “and who the hell was that? And why was he wearing a leather jacket?” Now taking about Eddie.
I laugh.. out loud.
Ryan looks horrified. “How can you be laughing? Tim’s dead!”
Oh god.
I’m horrible.
“Sorry, guess I’m not ok too, but leather jacket? I mean who cares?” I say.
“Who is he?” Ryan asks.
I sign, I don’t even know, and Ryan is over reacting, we were only talking even if I do think he’s the most manly beautiful man that has ever walked this earth. I’m not going to do anything about it, he’s hot that’s that, some people are blessed like that.
“Umm his names Eddie and he’s new that’s all I got, I was showing him where the office is, ok?” I look at Ryan and he’s still not happy but then again is that because of Eddie or Tim?
I should be nicer, but he has no right to try and out us, making it look like we are together, that was done out of pure jealousy.
“Ok” he rolled his eyes.
Today’s going to be long.
Through out the rest of the day me and Ryan get a lot of stares, people have heard, they want to know more. Josh, Kylie and Lacey never showed up but I didn’t even think Ryan would so I’m not surprised.
It’s almost the end of the day when Ryan pulled me into a supply closet, it was dusty and dark and Ryan looked miserable.
“Hey it’s ok.” I said as I walked up to Ryan, In a second he had his arms around me and I think that’s all he’s wanted all day.
“I just can’t believe he’s gone.” Ryan whispered in my ear. We spent a few minutes more like that before I pulled away. I turn around looking for where I dropped my bag, I find it by the wall but when I bent down to pick it up I feel Ryan behind me.
Before I had a chance to turn around his hands landed on my hips pulling me back into him. “Ryan” I meant to say it, but it sounded more like a moan.
“Jj” he whispered in my ear, his hand moving down my a*s, I stoped him before he went any further. When I turned around to face him he looked angry. “What’s with you?” He asked.
“Me? You’re in shock, your grieving Tim, I get you are upset and hurt but getting worked up is not going to help.” I moved to get past him, but he pushed me against the door grabbing the handle so I couldn’t. “Ryan let me leave.” I said seriously.
Ryan seemed to go in a daze for a moment before he let go of the handle a moved away, I didn’t wait a second to leave.
I didn’t feel like being here anymore, and I only had one class left so I’m leaving early. I made my way to the front of the building and just started walking out the gate when I heard a voice, Eddie’s voice.
He was talking to someone, when he comes into sight his back is to me, and he’s on the phone, I decided to go say bye to him and see how his first day has been when I hear him talk again.
“No I think there’s something here, I think I should stay.” He said into the phone, as he turned he sees me, he smiled. “Hey uncle Peter I got to go, I’m be home later, bye.”
He hung up the phone and walked the distance between us, “you leaving?” He asked.
“Yeah don’t feel great.” I relied “are you?”
Eddie looked confused, and I should not have said that, what I heard was none of my business.
“Sorry I heard you on the phone.” I clarify while feeling a little embarrassed.
Eddie just chuckled, “it’s ok, and no I’m not going any where, not for a while.” He smiles happily and it’s beautiful then he continues. “Hey are you ok? I heard your friend died yesterday.”
I didn’t need the reminder but there it was, I was talking to a guy I think is super hot when Ryan is in pain because his best friend died.
Again I’m horrible.
And it all just took me, everything that happened, Tim dying, how he died, the man at the house and again in my room. I just started crying.
“Hey it’s ok.” Eddie said putting a hand on my shoulder, but the tears kept streaming down my face, an ache in my heart and fear.. I felt fear.
“I’m sorry, I’m a mess, I’m gonna go.” I take a breath getting ready to leave, but Eddie stops me.
“Can I give you a ride somewhere?” He asked.
I nod and we get in his car, and he opens the door for me, a dark blue 1983 bmw m5.
“So where we going?” He asked looking at me with concern in his grey eyes.
I didn’t know how to tell him so I decided to just direct him instead. “Go left out of here and just carry on for a while.” I hope he goes with it and doesn’t ask.
Eddie nods and off we go, left and then straight for a bit, I watch as the trees go by, most have brown leaves now and some have already fallen, it’s all dark and wet and Miserable.
I can feel Eddie shifting in his seat next to me, his arm keeps brushing up against mine, but he’s uncomfortable, like he doesn’t know what to say.
It’s cute.
“So can I ask you something?” He looked over at me, waiting.
“Yeah of course.” I replied.
After clearing his throat, “why did happen to your friend?”
“Turn left.” I yell, I got distracted. By Eddie.
After turning left in a hurry Eddie breaths out a couple curses and I laughed. Very cute.
“We went to check it out, Tim and Lacey were off in a room on the second floor by themselves.” I take a breath. “We heard her scream, we got there in like 3 seconds, but Tim was laying on the ground like he had fallen or been pushed of the end, umm.” I stop. I just stop unsure of what to say next, then I somehow find the worlds to continue. “His skin was pulled back from his face, all torn and messy, the inside of his face pulled apart but his eyes..” again I’m lost for how to explain.
Eddie looked at me and asked deadly serious. “What about his eyes?” The way he said it startled me, like he didn’t really need to ask but he absolutely needed to know.
So I answered. “They were staring, dead, but perfectly still in place, like a center piece, like they had been arranged to look like that.”
Eddie went all still, not moving except for the muscle clenching in his jaw, what should Tim’s eyes matter to him?
All of a sudden Eddie roars “what the heck are we doing here?” As the car slows down the house comes into view.
I turn to Eddie, “how do know where we are?”
He looked shocked but answered anyway, “this is the house your friend died at last night, and I’m telling you now, stay away from here. There are things you don’t want to mess with or you will end up like your friend.” That’s all he says before he starts the car.
