“Beatrice, did you notice the Alpha frowning as he left?” I asked Beatrice when we were done with breakfast and was on our way to the meeting hall. To meet the Pack mother that Xander mentioned.
“Frowning? When?”
“Like…while he was eating and just before he left…”
“I'm sorry, my Luna. I wasn't paying attention. I must have missed it.”
“It's okay,” I shrugged. Besides, whatever I was thinking could be wrong. It was just a frown after all.
Pack mother did not show up.
However, she did show up exactly five days later.
“You are late!”
A harsh growl bounced against the walls of the meeting hall the moment we entered.
A heavily built tall figure dressed in an overall khaki appeared in the far end of the room.
