~Damon~
“For fvck sake! Why don't you listen to your heart and know if she's faking it or if she's really in danger!” My wolf grumbled furiously.
Could Aria really be in danger?
Without knowing it, my heart began to beat fast.
My fingers cracked violently as I imagined her getting hurt.
“Redmoon bridge…” My lips quivered.
If she was really there…then…
Then she was in danger.
Immediately, I dashed outside.
“My Alpha, the car keys!” my guards called me.
But the drumming of my heart was too loud, the fear in my heart was too vivid and my wolf was already very close to my surface.
As I ran, my bones cracked and my limbs stretched.
Once I got out of the gate, I jumped and at once my clothes ripped into tiny shreds. My limbs elongated and my teeth changed into sharp fangs. My wolf surfaced and took over.
At the highest speed any wolf could run, my paws ran.
“Help me…”
The voice returned in my mind.
The more I heard it, the faster my paws moved.
I would really go crazy if anything were to happen to Aria.
Fụck. When did I begin to care about her this much?
I arrived in the forest in no time in my wolf form.
Aria's voice was leading me.
I could tell I was closer now.
I could feel her and her voice was closer.
Then I smelt it. The thick scent of rogues.
“There are more than one!”
The thought of them laying their filthy claws on her made my blood boil and my fangs clenched.
“Help me!”
Aria's voice echoed loud. As if a bell had been rung deep into my ears, I was forced to an abrupt halt. My eyes glowed dangerously.
“We are here to save you, Aria,” my wolf muttered.
I didn't need to see to know that Aria was right next to me, separated only by a thick bush.
With a strength only a few wolves possess, I dived and landed right in the midst of the rogues.
“Stop right there!” I growled in my wolf voice.
“Damon…” Aria mumbled weakly. She was tied to a tree. They must have knocked her out first.
I looked at her and I felt this wave of rage course through me. Seeing her tied like that made me want to murder.
“Alpha Damon?” One of the rogues called, peering at my wolf.
“Yes, it's me, bastard!” I sneered and in a flash leapt and flung him away.
He crashed into the bark of a tree with a grunt.
“Attack!” one of the rogues roared.
I snarled in readiness, my fangs and paws itching.
There were five rogues in total.
I had flung one away already leaving me with four to deal with. Which was a walk on the pack for me.
I allowed them to make the first move without moving from my position.
One attacked with a sneer.
I caught him with my fangs. Using him, I swirled him and knocked out two of the rogues.
“Run! He is a beast!” One of the remaining standing rogues screamed.
In a flash, they scampered away.
I rushed to the tree and with my fangs tore the rope with which Aria was tied with.
She let out a sharp breath the moment the rope came undone.
As I stared at her, I was reminded of two years ago–when I saved her from those damn slave traders.
Back then, she also had this same fear in her eyes.
“It's alright. You are safe now,” I told her and instantly her eyes slightly widened.
“She's an arrow pointed to your neck, don't ever forget!”
I gulped thickly, my chest feeling tight as I remembered again her role in my life.
“Get on,” I said to her as I bent my legs for her to hop onto my back.
She looked astonished.
I sighed. Because I didn't have the strength to start telling her I didn't come with any car and the fastest route back home was the back of my wolf.
Also, because I could already see her ankle was red meaning they have been sprained and she wouldn't be able to walk comfortably on her own.
“I'll walk,” she mumbled and began to get to her feet. But she collapsed back to the ground with a groan.
I gave her a hard stare telling her to stop challenging me and just get on my back.
Finally, she climbed on my back.
I grunted telling her to hold on tight before I took off.
“My Alpha!” My guards called the moment I pawed into the mansion. Which I knew was partly due to shock and disbelief.
Logan appeared just as I let Aria down from my back.
“My Alpha?” he called, a smirk lurking in the corner of his lips.
“Take her to her chambers and call the healer,” I mindlinked him before I pawed into my chambers.
Getting inside, I shifted back into my human form and walked into the washroom.
I sank myself into the bathtub and exhaled deeply.
I tried not to think, tried not to give meaning to whatever that just happened.
“You saved her,” came my wolf's voice. I felt smug in it.
“I would have done the same for anyone else in this pack. You know that better,” I retorted.
“Really?” The smug is glaring now.
But before I could clap back, Bertha stormed in.
“You had a chance to stop the wedding!” she growled, her voice sharp.
“She was in danger, Bertha,” I muttered tiredly, not ready to engage in any argument with her at this point.
“Isn't that what you wanted?!”
I blinked, my forehead throbbed as Bertha’s words rang in my brain.
“Have you forgotten? How dangerous she is? She is a threat!”
“Bertha! Enough!”
“My Alpha… this is not you…what happened to you…what happened to the man that would do anything to protect the pack his parents left in his care…that would eliminate any enemies–”
“Bertha Please…”
I shut my eyes and willed my mind to enter hibernation mode.
