I need her safe and away from me so I can think clearly. I meant to just distract her for a moment so she wouldn’t fight me about being locked in a room. Yet, that kiss shook me just as much as her. I needed to get away. I’m a killer not a lovey dovey twit.
Turning around I push her out of my mind and head back down to the office. There is a lot to discuss about my mission and how Scarlett came into the picture. Also how she plays into the future.
Most of the women here are mates to one of the men and skilled fighters. Scarlett could barley handle a little blood at the clearing with the guards. How she is a healer is beyond me.
Opening the door to the office Keigan is waiting; pacing the floor.
“So you found yourself a mate? Funny I thought the mission was to see the weakness of the clan so we can raid them.”
“ shut it Keigan. As I was getting ready to make my escape from that poor excuse of a prison, she fell in my lap. I couldn’t just leave her in that clan to die. She is my gift from the moon goddess. I want to at least play with her first.”
Laughing we sit down and start going over the plans to raid the clan and what we were really after. Gold. Lots and lots of gold. This clan just happens to be unlucky enough to be my next hit.
As we get to work my mind keeps circling back to a certain she wolf. She is so soft and kind. I start to worry about how she will fit in with my clan.
What is wrong with me? When did I start worrying about other people? It doesn’t matter if she fits in or not. She will never leave my side. I have more important matters to think about.
“How is the training coming on the new pups?”
“ it’s coming.. they are ..”
Keigan never finished his words. He just stopped talking and stared outside the window with his mouthing hanging open.
