Meeting the True Alpha

2869 Words
Brea’s POV I was so nervous. I had heard about the True Alpha. She was an Alpha to all Alphas, even the council went to her for help. I would be meeting her, her mate, and another Alpha. I felt at ease with the mated Alpha. It was almost physically impossible for a mate to cheat, but my experiences with unmated Alpha’s were how I got to where I was at. My unease was sinking into my pup, he kept shifting around. His movements hurt. I didn’t have my wolf to help heal my wounds. At 22, I hadn’t spoken to my wolf, Lei, since I got pregnant. There was a lot of pain that she had suffered, but when I got pregnant, it was just too much for her. She receded and hadn’t spoken since. I could understand, it was hurting me to be pregnant by someone who wasn’t my mate. I was sure at this point, whoever he was, he would reject us anyway. No one would want me now. I just hoped that by the end of this I would be able to live in James’ territory and raise my son. I knew he had been known to take in rogues and runaways, so I went to his pack hoping for help. I had also heard he was extremely handsome, but I couldn’t help but ogle at the large bear of a man. His arms were the size of my thighs and each movement had the muscles flexing. His eyes were a light brown, almost the color of honey. He had a warm smile and even though I couldn’t feel my wolf, I had a feeling that he was my mate. When he touched me, I could feel Lei start to stir. He had his hand on the steering wheel but his other was resting on the car door as we waited for the rest of the Alpha’s to arrive. There was a large black wolf, a pure white wolf, and a ginger red wolf. They shifted in the tree line. There were two males and a female and two Alphas. I shrank deeper into my seat as the males came closer. They flanked the female and I assumed that she was Delilah, the True Alpha. “James!” She embraced him just as he got out of the truck. There was a low growl from her mate, “James, you know I love you like a brother, but get your hands off my mate.” I moved further behind James as the large Alpha growled. James grabbed my hand, pulling me to his side as he laughed at the Alpha, “Hey, Deacon. How’re things?” Deacon wrapped his arm around Delilah’s waist, pulling her to him. They seemed to trust each other, but James was still unmated. No sane wolf would trust his mate around an unmated male. Especially not an Alpha with his Luna. James laughed as the other Alpha rolled his eyes. He looked a lot like Deacon, but he was younger. I moved further into James’ side, as the other Alpha kept his eyes on me. “Who is that?” The Alpha almost snarled. James pushed me behind him, crouching into a defensive stance, a deep growl coming from his chest, “Mine.” Lei jumped to the surface as James’ wolf claimed me as his mate. I felt my skin start to spark where his hands were. It was just then I caught his scent. My eyes rolled to the back of my head as the smell of him drifted through my nose. I grabbed his arm, and he stood up with a smile on his face as he turned and looked at me. He took a deep breath, his eyes closing as his smile got bigger. Lei was prancing in my head, purring as James pulled me into his chest, burying his face in the top of my head. “Well, that still doesn’t answer why she smells like a rogue,” The other Alpha said. “Ky, it’s obvious who she is.” Delilah scoffed, “The whole reason we’re going to Blackwood, you dolt.” Ky kept his eyes on me, “She’s pregnant and unmated.” James growled again, “It doesn’t matter. She’s mine. If you want to help, then fine, if not go home, boy.” I ran my hand up his arm to help him calm down. Lei had rolled onto her back at the feeling of his skin on mine. “Brea?” Delilah asked softly. I looked at her. She was beautiful and I could feel the Alpha aura rolling off her in waves. I had never felt such a strong aura and couldn’t help but submit to her. I bared my neck and kept my eyes on the ground. “It’s okay. We’ll make sure no one hurts you while we’re there, okay?” She kept her voice low, “I’m Delilah. That’s Deacon, and the brute is Ky, Deacon’s little brother.” “Hello, little one.” Deacon waved at me, giving me a bright smile. I could tell he would follow Delilah’s lead, even if she wasn’t an Alpha herself, he was completely infatuated with her. Ky had kept his eyes on me, specifically my belly. I wrapped my jacket tighter around me as James pulled me into his side, wrapping his arm around my waist. He let out a low growl, warning Ky to take his eyes off me. “How is she pregnant? Who is the father, if you two are just realizing your mates?” Ky had a dark edge to his voice. Delilah smacked him on the back of his head, “It doesn’t matter! She needed help and I said you could stay home if you wanted to! Don’t make me call Axel and tell him you’re bullying her!” “I’m not afraid of Axel,” Ky grumbled. Deacon and James laughed, “Okay, little brother. We totally believe you.” Deacon smacked Ky on the shoulders, “We should get going though. I already called Alpha Raymond to let him know we were coming.” I whimpered at the mention of my old Alpha. I knew I would have to see him again, but I was just as afraid of him as I had always been. James kissed the top of my head, letting me know I was safe. I wasn’t sure. I knew more about Raymond than they did. I had grown up with him and even though he was mated at 18 like most Alpha’s and received his pack not long after, it didn’t change the fact that he and my brother were allowing unmated wolves to use me in any way they pleased. My own brother and father had thrown me in the hands of an unmated Alpha right in the middle of my heat and laughed when I got pregnant. Alpha Raymond did nothing to help me, and forbade my mother from helping me. We all climbed into James’ truck. I was in the passenger seat while Ky, Deacon, and Delilah piled into the back of the cab. James held my hand for the entire car ride. Lei kept purring and rolling on her back as the mate bond took hold. My son was doing backflips and kicking every time James’ hand brushed my belly. It was like he was trying to connect with James. I smiled inwardly. It wasn’t a very long drive from Blue Harvest to Blackwood. When we crossed the border, my brother was patrolling. I sank lower into the seat of the car and James gave my hand a squeeze, reassuring me. “No one is going to hurt you, Brea.” He said as he rolled down the window. My brother, Leo, immediately growled as his cold black eyes met mine. He reached over James, grabbing my hair and trying to pull me out of the truck. A growl that shook the entire truck came from behind me as Delilah’s eyes were purple. “LET HER THE f**k GO!” She commanded. I wasn’t even doing anything wrong, but Lei had buried her nose under her paws and was lying on her belly fully submitting. Leo let go of my hair but was a snarling mess. He had his neck bared under Delilah’s command, but his fists were balled until his knuckles were straining. James pulled me back onto my seat, his chest was heaving as he tried to control his wolf. I could tell he wasn’t as affected by Delilah’s command, but he still submitted out of respect. He looked me over, making sure I wasn’t hurt, but he couldn’t touch me. “Where is Alpha Raymond?” Delilah’s wolf had completely taken over. Deacon had pulled her into his lap and kissed her neck, trying to get her to calm down. Leo didn’t say anything as his eyes glazed over. He quickly shifted and led us to the packhouse. I could feel the bile rise in my stomach as we pulled into the large circle drive. There was another car parked in the driveway. I wanted to cry. I knew that car. I knew that scent. The Alpha was here. He was here. I couldn’t catch my breath as I stared at the car. There was another loud growl. I looked over and he was standing in the doorway. Alpha Raymond was behind him along with my father. I passed out. When I woke up, I was surrounded by something warm. I opened my eyes and James had set me on his lap. We were in the pack hospital. I knew it well. After each night with a different member, I was sent here to ensure I wouldn’t get pregnant too soon. James was keeping me close, his body shaking. I looked over to the door just as it opened, the Alpha leaned against the door jamb. An evil smirk played on his lips. If I wasn’t so terrified of him, he would be attractive. He had shaggy blonde hair, piercing blue eyes. His jaw was scruffed with a brown beard that had grown more since I last saw him. He had a pointed nose and deep dimples that gave him a boyish charm that any girl would fall in love with. I just knew better. “You have your hands on the mother of my child.” He said lazily. James growled deep in his chest, “She’s mine.” “And yet the b***h is carrying my pup.” James wrapped his arms tighter around me, his eyes glazed over. He buried his face in my hair just as Delilah came into the room. “Is there a problem here, Alexander?” She stood in front of the bed. He shrugged, “Depends on if he’s going to give me my b***h. She’s carrying the future of my pack.” “Brea-“ Delilah emphasized my name, “Is carrying her pup. Just because you are the father does not give you the right to take her. James is her mate. If you knew she was carrying your pup you should have claimed her before she was mated and before you found your mate. Now, if Brea wants to give her pup to you, then that is her choice.” “She’s carrying my son. I don’t want her to have anything to do with him. I’m raising him with my mate.” Alexander was getting angry. “The only way you’re raising the pup is if you recognize Brea as Luna. Since you left her after knowing she would more than likely get pregnant during her heat, the choice is Brea’s if she wants you to have the pup. If not, go to the council and explain exactly how you got an unmated she-wolf pregnant and abandoned her.” Delilah challenged. “Now if you don’t mind, there is a doctor that needs to check out Luna of Alpha James’ pack.” “You might be an Alpha, but just like her, you should learn your place. Luna’s are meant to breed and nothing else,” Alexander sneered. Delilah’s eyes glowed purple, “You are barely an Alpha, and you should learn your place. I am the True Alpha. Do not disrespect me.” Alexander snarled at the command but bared his neck to her, “I will get my pup.” He turned on his heel and left. James’ wrapped his arms tightly around me, burying his face in my neck, “He’s not touching your pup.” “He won’t touch anyone if I have any say in the matter.” Delilah’s wolf snarled at the insult to her protecting us. “Athena,” James called. Her eyes shot at James. A snarl ripping through her chest, James bowed his head in submission, “He’s gone, Alpha. Thank you for protecting my mate.” She just nodded and turned on her heel. Lei had cowered to the back of my mind, but now that we were alone, she was back to purring. She howled at how warm my skin had been since James put his large hand under my shirt. He rubbed small circles on my back. “Are you okay, Brea?” He whispered in my ear. I nodded, “I want to leave. I want to go back to your house.” “Let’s let the doctor check you out and make sure you and the pup are okay, then we can go home.” The doctor came in at that moment. He gave me a full checkup. I only had about a month and a half left in my pregnancy, out of the five-month werewolf pregnancies. It had been almost 2 months since I ran away, and even though we knew most first-born Alphas are boys, I wanted to double-check. I wanted so badly to ask about my son bonding with James, but I didn’t because I was afraid he would tell Alpha Raymond. The doctor gave me the all-clear and told James to make sure I was resting and eating plenty. He knew that Lei had receded when I got pregnant, and Alpha pregnancies were harder than any other wolf. They grow faster, are stronger and most Lunas are stronger than I was. James carried me through the hospital to his truck, the bed loaded up with my things from my room. My father was waiting on the steps of the hospital, my mom whimpering behind him. My brother was still in his wolf form snarling as Deacon and Ky walked in front of James shielding me from their angry stares. “You really think she’s worth this? She’s a good-for-nothing b***h. She can barely take care of herself, and you want to let her have an Alpha pup?” My father snarled at James. “Maybe if you weren’t such a piece of s**t, she wouldn’t have an Alpha pup with a bastard who ignored her for 3 months.” Ky spit back. Deacon had to grab his arm and forcefully threw him in the truck. “He’s going to get his pup, you’re starting a war over a breeder.” “I will start a war over my mate, now, if you’ll excuse me. She needs her rest.” James settled me in the front seat, buckling me in. He double-checked that the strap wasn’t hurting my belly. The pup shoved his little body out towards James’ warmth. There was no way he didn’t feel it, as he brought his eyes up to meet mine. He smiled at me, rubbing a small circle where the pup had pushed out. Delilah had shifted and was sitting in the bed of the truck as James pulled out. I could feel my brother following us with some of Blackwood’s warriors. She let out a howl at the edge of the territory and sent me a mind link. It had been so long since I had someone else in my head, I squeaked at the sound of her wolf. You have to break the bond of your pack. If you don’t, the council could send you back. She told me. I swallowed the lump deep in my throat, “I, Brea Langston, reject Blackwood as my pack and home and will live my life as a rogue.” I clenched my chest as I felt the pack bond break. I took slow deep breaths before I finally felt free for the first time in my life. I had spent so long living in constant fear of the wrath of my father and brother that, even with the fact that I had lived in the woods as a rogue for two months, I had never felt so good. James take her to Blue Harvest. I don’t trust anything about that pack. I want my own doctor to check her out. Delilah sent us a mind link. It was nice having her include me. No one had bothered telling me anything about my life for most of it. I did what I was told.
