As they arrived at school Bella and Livy shared a disgusted look. Rena was at the front of the school practically drooling over Ben, the Alpha's son, future leader of the pack. He, apparently, enjoyed the attention as he threw his head back laughing at something she whispered in his ear.
"Quit staring, we have to..." Bella's words were stolen as Lucas appeared out of seemingly nowhere and kissed her. Not a small peck but one that melts a girl's heart.
"Ugh, get a room." Livy pushed passed them knowing Raine was waiting for them. She couldn't be alone for too long. Raine turned 16 four months ago and still hadn't received her wolf. In the pack's eyes this made her one of the weakest, less than an omega, and therefore a target to the popular kids. Luckily Rena, her biggest threat was busy swooning over Ben for the moment.
Lucas and Bella followed Livy, hand in hand. Livy couldn't help but wonder what her mate would be like. Once she had her wolf she would be able to find him immediately, or so she hoped. There were some wolves whose mates weren't in the pack and because we didn't leave or visit others often it usually meant a lifetime of loneliness, waiting for the one. Livy prayed nightly that she would not be one of those. She worried often that her wolf wouldn't come, or she'd never find a mate. Still, the way Bella had become attached to Lucas was utterly disgusting at times. They were rarely seen without each other now which meant Livy had lost someone to talk girl stuff with. Though Lucas would give them time alone if asked, Bella would always be looking for him and seemed impatient when he wasn't around. Still, Livy was happy for her, and Lucas, being trained as one of the Elite warriors, did offer some protection.
The three entered the school and rounded the first corner leading to homeroom. To Livy's dismay, they were too late. One of Rena's minions had Raine by the hair, slamming her head into a locker. Livy broke into a run, not thinking, fueled by something deeper. She grabbed the other girl's hair, who let go of Raine in surprise.
"Don't touch her again." Livy's voice came out like the sound of bells chiming softly. Livy let go of the girl's hair shocked at the way her voice sounded. It never sounded like that. The girl she grabbed stumbled back in fear, not usually the reaction Livy received when defending her friend. Usually, they laughed and turned their punishment on her. Suddenly everyone was whispering. "Did you see that?"
"Her eyes!"
"What is wrong with her?"
Everyone stepped back as Livy headed towards the bathroom. Something was wrong with her, she needed to get away from everyone. Bella and Lucas had Raine, but looks of surprise were on their faces as well.
Livy entered the bathroom breathing hard, her heart racing. When she saw herself in the mirror she gasped. Her emerald green eyes were shining violet, like a small purple flame surrounding her pupils.
"Don't worry Liv. I'm Amethyst. I have always been with you."
"Amethyst?" Livy said allowed. Her wolf had come early. She wasn't supposed to meet her for a couple more weeks. Yet here she was, stunning and stronger than Livy imagined.
"Injustice really gets under my skin. I've missed talking to you. I should've waited. A public display was dangerous for us."
Yes, Livy thought. From what Agatha had always said, they were to keep quiet about her heritage. The violet eyes were unlike anyone else's. Most wolf's eyes were bright blue, almost like glaciers. Surely that is what set the whispers off. Livy knew she was destined to go home to the Lycan King and queen, her true parents but it was too dangerous.
"I apologize Liv, but I cannot watch you and your friends get bullied even more, especially by unworthy scum. I must protect you as I always have."
Suddenly Rena and her minions, Lucy, Kary, and Jasmine came in. Jasmine stayed back a ways, as she was the one Livy had grabbed. She pointed her perfectly manicured finger at Livy.
"There she is, hiding, like the little orphan rat she is." The four them blocked the exit, leaving Livy no way out.
Let me handle them, Livy told Amethyst who reluctantly back away from the surface. Livy had trained hard for years, though her school did not allow a group of 4 to jump one person.
"I'm not hiding, certainly not from someone who needs 3 other people to fight her battles." Livy glared at Jasmine. For wolves who think they are elite, they never fought fair.
"I could tear you apart by myself any day! You'renothing but a wolfless orphan" Jasmine retorted.
"Well, then, send the crowd away and we'll finish this." Livy never backed down and that was why she was always a target. She wouldn't let them beat up on her friends without walking away with a mark or two themselves. Amethyst was right, injustice just didn't sit well. Amethyst snorted in agreement. Sitting calmly in the back of Livy's mind.
"You don't mess with one of mine without punishment!" Rena stepped up. Livy shrugged her shoulders.
"Give me your best then." Livy winked at her. The taunt made Rena flare with rage. After so many years she still couldn't stand Livy talking back. Most girls cowered and begged for forgiveness. Not Livy, she ran her mouth with the best of them and she always backed her words up. The four girls moved in, cutting off the stalls and backing Livy up to the sinks. Just as they went to jump, the bathroom door slammed open. All five girls jumped in surprise, looking towards the door.
"Get out..." Rena shut her mouth immediately seeing who was in the doorway.
"Kneel!" Alpha power rolled off the female though her voice was soft. Rena, Jasmine, Lucy, and Kary dropped immediately, whimpering under the Luna's power. It took Livy a moment to realize she was not kneeling, nor did she feel the need to.
"Kneel Liv, she's your Luna, we must for now"
Livy kneeled immediately at her wolf's command. She did notice Amethyst did not bow or lower her head. She was above the Luna but they needed to stay safe. Amethyst had done enough to endanger Livy and she needed to keep her safe, keep them safe.
"Livy Creedle, come with me. Alpha Roman wishes to speak with you." Luna Louise turned and left. Livy walked through the girl, as she left the bathroom she winked again just to irk Rena, who let out a small snarl. Livy smiled in satisfaction, she would pay for that later though.
Livy follwed their Luna through the school, a display that once again started the whispers. All eyes lowered but watching in curiosity nonetheless. As soon as the school doors closed, the school erupted in noise and questions. Out front was a black Escalade, it had to be the latest model. The driver open the door for Luna Louise, bowing slightly. She ushered Livy to get in first and then sat down beside her. Livy barely had her seat belt on when the driver began to pull away from the curb. A thick awkward silence settled in the car. Livy wondered what the Alpha could possibly want. Did he know about what happened at school? Surely it hadn't spread that fast. But for the Luna to show up in person, something was wrong. Arriving at the Pack house, a feeling of dread washed over her as she saw Agatha's modest Toyota Camry sitting out front. How long had she been here? What was going on?
"Livy, you've caused quite an uproar." It was the only words Luna Louise had said, and then she stepped out of the car with more elegance than Livy had ever seen. Livy hesitated before stepping out. This can't be good Amethyst, Livy thought as she stared at the Pack house.
