POV Livy

1358 Words
Just my luck, my mate would lead to danger. I was always careful not to tell anyone what my lineage was. Agatha was human and I couldn't let her get harmed just because she was caring for me. I felt the burn of the silver chains as they wrapped my body. "Hold on Liv," Amethyst called. I didn't know what she was going to do but at the moment she's the only one I could trust. Suddenly everything went black and I couldn't feel the pain anymore. I hoped she heard me say thank you as the pain dulled. A bright light appeared, like the end of a tunnel. I felt sluggish as I tried to get closer. I don't know if I was moving or the light was getting brighter. Then I saw her. She was breathtakingly beautiful. Pure white fur with tips of lavender. Her violet eyes were flames of purple, shining as they could see through your soul. She was unlike any wolf I had ever seen in my life. Pride swelled in me, knowing the moon goddess thought I was worthy of such a creature. Amethyst straightened herself, looking just as proud as I felt. "Because you are worthy Liv, you have been since birth." "You are so beautiful," Liv responded still in awe of such a magnificent creature. "So are you Liv, Agatha has hidden you well from the world, even your beauty. We owe her our lives, a debt I hope to repay someday by saving hers." "Oh goddess, Agatha! Amethyst she's probably dying of worry right now. I hope she didn't see what happened. I hope she doesn't think I abandoned her." "I doubt she does Liv. She's not who she says she is. Not exactly." "What do you mean? Of course, she is. Why would Agatha lie to me?" "To protect you both. No humans lived in the Caves of Mystery. It was burned down because the most powerful witches lived there. The King of the Red Moon Pack was afraid they would attack him. Because his mother betrayed their family, he went out to destroy everything she loved. It started the biggest war known to werewolves." Amethyst looked saddened. I didn't want to make her sadder so I looked around the room we were in. It felt like a dream. Golden white light shines everywhere. It was like nothing and everything all in one space. There was no ground, yet I stood, as if on a cloud. "What is this place?" I knew it couldn't be Earth. Most people couldn't see their wolf fully and separately from their human form. "This is our safe space inside your mind. We won't be here much longer." A low beeping started as Amethyst spoke softly. It got louder and louder as I listened to it. Slowly the light around us started to fade again. Amethyst did not fade until all the light around her seemed to dim. I opened my eyes, still hearing the beeping, slow and methodical. It was the sound of a machine, a line went across and with every beep, there was a jump in the line. It took me a second to realize I was hooked up to a heart rate machine. There was an IV in my arm. Relief flooded me as I thought my pack had saved me. I looked around hoping to see Agatha in the room. Hoping she would tell me it was all a bad dream. I could still feel Amethyst, but she was pacing now, on edge. "She's awake, go get him, now!" I saw her standing, talking to someone through an open door. They must have left because she shut the door and went to a table. I couldn't see what she was doing, but my imagination wasn't putting me at ease. This was definitely not my pack. I sniffed the air to find something, someone familiar. All I learned was that she was not a wolf. Amethyst suspected she was a healing mage. "Where am I?" My throat burned and my voice barely came out as a whisper. Whoever she was, she didn't say a word, but brought me a cup of water. "Thank you." I went to take a drink but I'd seen enough horror movies, I thought better of it and just held it. I wasn't likely to get answers if I was being held captive. Amethyst was preparing to fight. Then it hit me, that wonderful smell. Anger boiled up in both Amethyst and I. My body and heart betrayed my mind. I wanted to be closer to him, to touch him, to feel his touch. Amethyst snarled at my thoughts but I knew she felt the same. She wanted to make sure he knew we were hurt and angry at him first. I agreed with her. I sat up in the bed I was in, swinging my legs over the edge. We sat waiting for him to come through the door. I could feel his wolf before he entered the room. His wolf seemed irritated as well. I wondered why, hadn't they made the decision together. The door opened, and once again I was in awe staring at him, my eyes wandering over every inch of him. Desire burned low in my stomach. For a moment he stopped and stared back. I swear the same desire that I felt was burning in his eyes but he quickly turned away. He went to the healer in the room and handed her a slip of paper. She looked at it, folded it, and left the room with a look of satisfaction. He turned to me, a cold, glazed look in his eyes. Not a look I ever expected to see from my mate. I suddenly wished I had never met him, that I would have been like the other wolves, always looking, but to no avail. His look was calculating, as if trying to find my weakness. I stared back defiantly, head held high. For once I didn't feel the need to back down to anyone. Amethyst was more than anyone expected. If she didn't fear him, I certainly didn't have to. Amethyst was silent to me, I couldn't hear her, but I could feel a bond between her and his wolf. She had relaxed a slight amount but had her guard up still. Maybe she was talking to his wolf. I wish the man would speak, I guess I would need to break the silence. "What am I doing here?" He looked surprised I had spoken. My anger flared even more thinking he thought I was beneath him, like everyone else. I would show him too, that I was greater than all of them. "I needed you here." His voice came out softer than I expected. A look of affection flashed across his face but he quickly masked it again. "For what?" "You'll find out." "Well thats just not good enough! You took me away from my home, I was happy, you led me into a trap knowing we are..." "Don't, you have no idea." "If you want to reject me just do it, you didn't have to dr..." He moved lightening fast. Suddenly his face was inches from mine. I practically melted, his scent enticing me to do things I'd never done. "Thats what you think this is about? Such a foolish girl. I had no intentions of rejecting you. Why would I let go of the one thing stopping you from killing me?" His answer was filled with pain, and a deep sadness came over his eyes. A sharp pain hit me, I reached to touch his face, wanting to take his hurt away. Before I could touch him, he grabbed my wrist stopping me. He didn't flinch, but fear filled the room. "Why are you afraid of me?" "You mistake fear for caution. I fear no one! You've already killed my Beta, I will not underestimate you again." With that he turned and walked out of the room, leaving me with more questions than I had before. He must think I am someone else.
