I had been searching for 7 years to find the lost princess. After our attack on Moostone Castle, her mother had managed to get the girl free from our grasp. My men had found the tunnel, too small for any of them to fit through. I sat upon the throne, one leg over the armrest, waiting. The Lycan King and Queen were set before me.
"Where is she?" I asked calmly, knowing their answer already. Really, what kind of parents would give up their only child, their only heir? Both of them sat silently, the King's eyes could burn daggers through a man's soul. Luckily I wasn't just any man. I was a hybrid wolf, birthed by a witch with ancient magic. If she hadn't betrayed my father, I wouldn't have burned her home either.
"Alpha Damien," my Beta entered the room, barely glancing at the once powerful beings before me. He walked directly to me. "We found the exit to the tunnel."
"And the child?" I asked leaning forward.
"It's being tracked as we speak." The Queen smiled viciously at me.
"You don't even know what you are tracking!" She laughed. I rolled my eyes, not that she was wrong. No one knew what they had bred. Boy, girl, wolf, lycan, hybrid. But the oracle was clear.
If the child grows into power, the tides will answer to her call
I honestly wasn't even sure what that meant but it did not bode well for me, that I was sure. It was not easy to catch the King by surprise but they had been busy raising their child and the night before her birthday celebration seemed perfect. Hiring makes, witches, a few vampires who had no loyalty to anyone, had not been an easy task. A small fortune ensured they would be loyal to our cause.
"Lock them in their dungeon."
"We found her" One of my warriors called through the mindlink. He was headed in to grab her.
"Where?" I demanded. Suddenly the link was severed. Something was wrong. I turned to my Beta. "Go now!"
"Sir!" He was gone as soon as the word came out. The Queen began laughing, mocking us, as if she knew what happened. I turned to her with a snarl, one sentence and I would shut her up for good.
"Laugh away queeny, your daughter will be joining you soon." As expected her breath caught in her throat. Fear reached her eyes and I felt more satisfied in that then I had in years. Not even a women's touch could be as satisfying as watching the once powerful lose everything. "Lock them up!"
Now here I stood on the edge of the woods of a delightful cottage, set away from the pack. A simple anomous message to the Alpha of Blue Lunar Pack had set the ball in motion. 10 females were invited from Packs around the northern hemisphere. Each one hand-selected by myself. All powerful females, ready to lay down everything to become Luna to the mysterious Lycan King. We had been watching this one for a few days, and she seemed promising. Even more promising because of who she lived with. The cottage was enchanted, power spells made it almost invisible. There were no smells, no life to be seen, yet they came and went as they pleased. Today, I would enter the humble home and see for myself. I had undone some of the best enchantments. Just as I was about to head towards the cottage, I heard the sound of an engine approaching. I step back into the shadows of the woods, unseen by vehicle. An older woman stepped out of the driver's side, looking worn and visibly upset.
And then I saw her. The passenger. She stepped out and it was as if the sun dulled in her presence. Eyes like jewels glistening with green and yellow hues. The power that rolled off her was intoxicating. Suddenly, Ronan stirred, interested as well. He was never interested in others. A soul blacker than my own, from a lifetime of pain and betrayal, left us bith mate-less and uncaring. He peered out, arousel hitting us both like never before. This couldn't be possible. Years of searching and in this desolate place we find her.
"Mate" Ronan calls. Instantly pressuring me to get closer to her. We can smell her, like lilacs and fresh bread, the most beautiful scent. He needs to be next to her, wants to mark her as his, as ours. "Take her now!"
"We can't you fool. If shes the one we must do what we came to do!" I argued with him.
"No this changes everything, she is mine!"
"This changes nothing!" We wrestled over the matter, he truly thought her being our mate would change anything. It couldn't. Love was why we were in this mess in the first place, and here he was puppy-eyed over some blonde. I didn't want to admit it but if I let her get to close to me, I might lose my plans as well. I already couldn't stop thinking about what she would be like in my bed chamber, would she fight or give in. Would she scream my name as I... No, stop. We must keep our heads.
"See, changes everything," Ronan snarled, disappearing to distance himself. He was going to hate me for what came next. I looked back and both of them were gone, and so was her scent, thank the goddess. I could think clearly again. I waited patiently, my men hidden around me. We would take this one today before the carriage arrived. The King and Queen would not see this one with the others. Giving them hope that she had not been found. Maybe I could just talk to her, invite her to come with me, so that she could walk in by my side. She knew someone was picking her up anyway. No, she would hate me once she knew who I was. What I had done. It was best to stick to the plan and take her in secret. I must get her to the Oracle and see what she says. Luckily I hadn't beheaded her after our last conversation. I did not take threats to my kingdom lightly. The moon goddess had better plans than to steal the kingdom I fought so hard for, especially not using my mate.
She stepped back out of the house, breathing heavily.
"Something's wrong, go to her! Now!" Ronan blasted through my skull, like claws digging into my brain. I stepped out of the woods before I could think about what I was doing. I wanted to help her, calm her worries. She spotted me too quickly. Her eyes flamed violet and I stopped moving. Still half in the shadows. Now I wanted her to come to me. I wanted to see how she walked, if she'd approach me at all. Maybe she would just go back inside and I could leave this to my men.
That would have been too easy. She slowly walked towards me, floating through the grass like an angel. Her eyes stared me down like a predator, hunting her next meal. A shiver went down my spine at the thought. How I would love to be her next meal, and even more how I would love for her to be mine. I felt Ronan lick his lips, wanting the same. She got closer, and closer, never a thought danger may lurk near by. She was fierce and curious and innocent in every step.
20 feet, 15 feet, 10 feet, I could sense her wolf now, though masked somehow. Before I could say anything, I saw the ropes and chains twist around her. Ronan snarled, trying to break free. He would kill us all to save her. Suddenly he stopped, we stared in awe half wolf, half man as she screamed, her body being licked by a purple flame. She dropped to the ground unconscious and as if I had imagined it, the flames were gone. "What the hell was that?"
