It smells like roses. One of my favorite smells. The sun is shining, so different from the bitter cold winter back in Utah. The campus is magnificent, everything seems to be shining with an otherworldly light.
I love it!
I absolutely love the smell, the feel, just everything about it.
I'm still unbelievably nervous, but suddenly this whole situation doesn't seem so bad. So what I have to go to a school that will overall improve my skills and make me a better Alpha. It will also help me with socializing, hopefully.
I'll miss my brother and everyone else but I'll see them once the school years over. I just wish I was smart enough to realize I needed this without having to be threatened by the king.
I must look pretty ridiculous, with my mouth open and spinning around with my head tipped upwards. But who gives a f**k, here I don't feel the restrictions I felt at home, always having to act proper and being in charge of everyone. Not being able to spend very much time with my family or friends, always being busy.
This is a new start. I'll make new friends, learn new things and spend time with my mate. Speaking of my mate, I turn and look at him. Only to find him staring at my with an intense look. I could spend some time trying to decipher what it means, however, I don't feel like doing that right now. The school staff, who were waiting for us, have already gotten our suitcases and belongings. I go to grab the last few bags that they couldn't carry on their first trip. It's not like it's a problem for me.
One of the younger servants looks back and sees me with my luggage and bumps a woman, who looks very similar to him, with his arm.
"¿Qué?" She sends an annoyed look his way, but when he not so secretly directs their gazes towards me she looks. When she sees that I'm carrying the bags, she rushes over to me and gestures to the boy, who I'm assuming is her son. His arms are empty, but I shake my head no. I already have them no need for him to carry my stuff. I'm not helpless.
She persists with a nod and says with an accent, "We can take those bags for you, no need for an alpha to do the jobs of the servants."
"Oh, but see I didn't come here as an alpha, I came here as a student who is ready to learn. And there is nothing more eye opening then experiencing other peoples jobs. Now would you rob me of this experience?" I smile a genuine smile and get one back in response.
"No, I couldn't rob you of this experience" I can tell she's trying not to laugh.
A throat clears behind, Kai. My smile gets larger, though I try to hide it. I bite my lip. It's unattractive I know, but it's a habit.
"I'll take your bag." I can feel his breath by my ear, when he whispers that. I'm momentarily distracted by him and he takes that as a chance to take the bag in my hand. I just stare at him as he walks away with a smirk on his face. He looks back and the smirk turns into a full blown smile.
"What's taking you so long?" He asks me when I still just stand there. "Do I need to carry you?" He teases me. God, how is anyone this perfect.
He starts walking towards me and I realize I still haven't moved.
"I'm coming, I'm coming." I say once my finally reconnects with the rest of my body.
We walk in silence until I say, "So...How old are you?" Yeah, I'm a bit embarrassed that I didn't know his age.
"I just turned 19." He's a bit older than me, which I am not opposed too.
"I'm 17, but you probably already knew that." I say this confidently although I am a bit embarrassed for my word splat.
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure every wolf and business man knows your name and age." He says this matter factly.
We just entered the school and I gotta say this is impressive.
"Wow, now this is what I call fancy." We walked into what looks like the main hallway with it's giant crystal chandelier which looks like it has a real gold chain holding it up on the ceiling. The walls are a maroon color and the floors are a hardwood floors. It's elegant but not over the top. From the looks of this I'm guessing that an interior designer got there hands on this place.
I'm following the group while looking around, when I smell something. I don't like it. It's not that it smells bad, but more like it's fake. It's getting stronger which means they're getting closer.
"Kai, Kai!" I see a girl running down the hall, straight towards MY MATE!
She jumps and Kai catches her with an "Oof". I can feel my eyes start to glow. Kai looks like he's panicking. He keeps looking at me and then at the girl.
"I missed you. Why didn't you call me?" I want to growl, but I don't bother. I can't believe this,I knew he was too good to be true. Then she kisses him and I can physically feel the pain. I try not to wince, but it'shard not to. The pains almost unbearable. He pushes her away, but it's too late.
I knew this was a bad idea from the start and this jsut confirms it. She looks confused for a moment then looks at me. She looks me up and down, before she frowns and looks at Kai. Then she puts on a smile that look as fake as she smells.
"You must be one of the Alphas," She pauses looking like she's thinking, "I'm sorry I can't recall your name. What is it?" I don't bother answering just turn to the nice lady from earlier and ask her where my room is. Once she tells me I give the two love birds one last glare before I walk away.
