Last Day

Shanna POV

I am packing up my suit case getting ready to head back to our pack. It has been three days since my interaction with Alpha David. I have been avoiding him. I know I still owe him a date and I will keep my promise. I am just not ready to deal with him at the moment. I have to much on my mind. Plus Alpha Scott and myself have been testing the new security system that will soon be implemented at his pack. During these three days with Alpha Scott he has been growing on me. Underneath that playboy demeanor he is really is a good friend.

I have had a lot on my mind since the anniversary of my mothers death is coming up next week. I always had mixed emotions around this time. I miss her so much. They say it gets easier with time but for some reason I feel like it gets harder. The wanting of a mothers touch in my life. Being able to talk to her about boys and all my problems. My dad has always been there and I know he tries but I also know he is very protective of me.

“She will always be with us Shanna” My wolf Lila voice echos in my mind.

“Lila I just miss her so much.” I whisper back to her.

“Just know her strong blood and love for us lives within us.” Lila say as she tries to sooth me.

I am not a very emotional person. Ever since my mother died I have always hid my true feelings. Keeping my emotions and thoughts in check. I always had to be strong. Specially for my father. After my mother died my father was never the same. His care free smiles gone and placed with worry of me and us trying to pick up the pieces of our family after she passed away. After losing a mate most go mad specially Alpha’s. I don’t know how my father kept it together during the beginning but he did. I owe him so much. He made our pack strong making it a target for those who seek power. The packs in the north located in Canada have been showing more interest in our pack. Which is why I made our advance security system. This would allow us to track possible enemies who may want to harm us and our allies. As I ponder the future I hear a knock on my room door. I walk to open the door to see Alpha Scott holding a small box in his hand.

“Alpha Scott, What brings you here?” I say taking in his handsome appearance.

“Huhhh…. Ya I brought you some cup cakes from the bakery. When we were talking yesterday working on the security system you said you were craving one. So I thought I would surprise you.” He replies showing me a smile.

“This is super thoughtful Alpha Scott. You really didn’t have to do this.” I was stunned he went out of his way to do this for me.

“Shanna, Please call me Scott. We are friends now after all. It was the least I can do for you after all that work you put in. I also didn’t know what flavors you liked so I got you one of each.” Scott says while handing me that box.

“Why don’t we go down to the cafe and get some coffee and enjoy these together. I would enjoy your company.” I say as I grab the box from him.

“I would love that.” Scott’s beautiful bright green eyes staring into mine as he replies.

“Great meet you down stair in the lobby in fives minutes.” I stammer out as I place the cup cakes on the small table by my room door.

“Okay I will meet you down stairs.” Scott turns to leave with a big smile on his face.

I run the the bathroom to freshen up. Brushing through my long blonde hair and touching up my make up. I grab my white converse shoes putting them on and taking one last look in the mirror before heading down. I have my high waisted ripped mom jeans showing off my my waist and my white crop top. I grab the box of cup cakes from the side table and start heading down to the lobby. I head to elevator pressing the button for the lobby. I start to open the box looking at the beautiful cup cakes that Scott got me. He literally bought every flavor. As I close the lib to the box the elevator doors ding open. Not paying much attention to my surroundings I start walking out the elevator doors crashing into a hard chest almost dropping the box of cup cakes.

“O I am so sorry. I really need to pay attention to where I am going.” I laugh out; as I look up at the person who I almost nocked over.

“Don’t worry about it beautiful. Since this is the only way I get to see you. Why do I feel like you are avoiding me for the last three day’s?” David’s deep husky voice bringing my attention to his crystal clear eyes.

Great out of all people I had to run into It had to be Alpha David. This man can make my blood boil. Just because he looks like a Greek god doesn’t mean I will throw myself at him. I am sure he gets his fair share of she wolves who throw themselves at him. I am just not one of them. I have common sense and standards then to submit to a cocky Alpha who thinks he can charm the pants off any women he wants. Feeling my anger starting to rise. I quickly spat a reply.

“Alpha David, Don’t flatter yourself. Why would I avoid you? That would entail that I actually care about your presence and I don’t not.” Rolling my eyes I try to step around him to continue on my way.

“O I think you know why Shanna. You are voiding me because of our deal.” David says well stepping forward blocking me from leaving.

“Is that what you think Alpha David? I chuckle out. “I think you give our deal to much weight. If anything I rather just get it over with. We both know why you want this date. Let’s just cut the bull s**t. You thought you could bed me! To add me to your countless she wolves you have bedded. Well Alpha David let me save you the time and the chase. I will never sleep with you. I know my worth and you are unworthy of me.” I spit out with disgust.

I could feel Lila my wolf fueling our anger. She also agrees that we are no ones conquest. We will not be another notch on his belt. He is unworthy of our feelings. He may be one of the sexiest men we have ever seen but we are not falling for his tricks. I can see David starting at me with such intensity.

“Look Shanna what I said at the bar the other night is just guy talk okay. I really do want to get to know you. I am willing to go against my father for our deal. Just think about it. I will be a pure gentleman. I know the annual warrior training and tournament is coming up. You can let me know your choice then.” His voice is confident when he replies. Why does he get under my skin so much.

“Guy talk or not Alpha David there is always some truth to words. As for our date I always keep my promises. I will have my beta touch base with yours. We will see you next month at the tournament.” I retort as I rush past him. Not even giving him a glance as I walk to meet Scott.

David POV

Well that didn’t go as I planned. I had been trying to catch Shanna these last three days before they left back to their pack. I had a feeling she was purposely trying to avoid me. I had never had a women do this to me before. Honestly I have never had to seek out a women period. They normally came to me. I am not accustomed to this type of rejection. I feel out of my depth here. To top it off I heard she has been spending a lot of time with Alpha Scott. It makes my blood boil knowing he gets to have so much of her attention. I know he is also after her. What single man wouldn’t be interested in her. I feel a bit jealous even my wolf Leo is getting agitated.

“If you didn’t make such stupid comments maybe she wouldn’t be avoiding us!” Leo scuffs out.

“Look it was boy talk you wouldn’t understand Leo. So shut up.” I whip back at him.

“She is right you know. She is to good for us. You should have let me take control. I am better with the ladies.” He chirps.

“Ya no Leo, Sniffing a women’s ass and rubbing yourself against her is definitely not a way to win her over!” I replied getting annoyed.

Leo huffs in my mind. “And your way is better talking about her at bar with Lance? Ya because that went so well for us! I am telling you she will love it when I rub my fur all over her and lick her face. Smelling her butt will be a cherry on top.” Leo chirps with such confidence.

“Leo you are a alpha wolf not a dam house cat. We don’t do that s**t. Specially to someone like her. Just let me handle it okay. I got this.” I say well blocking him out.

I head back down stairs to meet my father since our flight is leaving this afternoon. I make my way to the cafe since I am sure he is there with Lance probable getting lunch. I walk in to see Shanna is sitting with Alpha Scott laughing. I can see they are sharing cup cakes. What the hell! I have to basically beg this girl to give me a chance and that scum bag Alpha Scott gets one with out even trying. He is one of the biggest players out there. He is even worse then me. At least I have standards. Alpha Scott has slept with pretty much all the women in his pack and more. This truly has to be a joke. Right when I am about to walk to there table my father calls my name.

“David! Over here son.” My father calls me over distracting me. I take a seat in between him and Lance.

“So son how was your meeting with Alpha Jaxon from Red Moon? Did you get that agreement done?” His deep demanding voice booming towards me.

“Yes I did. They agreed to be allies for another two years. Alpha Jaxon also agreed to the new warrior program we will have for the east coast.” I reply

“That’s great son. Will our warriors be ready for the training and warrior tournament coming up? You know how important this is to show our strength to our enemies and allies. I want to win this tournament. Do you understand?!” His voices in a demanding tone.

“Lance and myself have stepped up training for all the warriors. There will be no weakness for this tournament.” I reply.

“Good! Now lets talk about you taking over as Alpha after the tournament is done. I believe you are finally ready to take my place. Your brother Nathan will take over the gamma position. I want to hold your inaugurations together to show the bond between you boys.” My dad states

I have never been close with my half brother Nathan. He is born to my fathers mistress Sabrina. I hated them for what they did to my mother. How my mother tolerated this disrespect all these years makes my blood boil. I remember seeing my mother in pain well he slept with that w***e Sabrina. Now he wants to make Nathan my gamma. Ya that is not happening. I just need to buy time. Once I am Alpha things will change. My luna will never be treated the way my father treated my mother. I will not tolerate the ill treatment of my mother. She will be respected.

“Does Nathan even want to be a gamma?” I replay acting like it does not bother me.

“I am sure he does son. He is also born to lead. He does have my alpha blood after all. Since we are talking about your future you will also need a Luna. You should take Megan as your mate. She is beautiful and comes from beta blood. I am sure she will be more then a match for you.” My dad states more in a command then a suggestion.

“Megan will not be my Luna father. We talked about this. Plus I have someone else in mind.” I retort showing I was not going to back down.

“Is that so! Who is this women you speak of? Not just anyone can be the Luna of the Black Forest Pack. Look at your mother if it wasn’t for Sabrina helping she couldn’t have done it. Learn from my mistakes son.” His voice sounding irritated.

Right as I was about to answer I can hear Shanna laughter echoing towards us. I look and see her walking with Alpha Scott his arm draped over her shoulders and he whispers something into her ear. That fucker the game is on.

“Alpha Josh needs to teach his daughter her place. He gives his daughter to much power. Look at her she seems to be a slut like her mother.” My father says with such distain.

My mouth dropped open at his comment. What he said went beyond what is expectable. I didn’t even know he knew Shanna’s mother before she died. Still shocked I feel Leo’s anger seeping though my body.

“If you don’t put your father in his place I will.” Leo barks out.

“Leo this is not the time.” I spit back

“Father don’t you think you should get to know her before you judge someone. I spoke to Alpha Jason’s daughter at the summit and she seems to be smart and kind. I have never seen her lead any man on during this conference.” I say

“You should not be speaking to our enemy do you understand. Alpha Josh and his slut of a daughter can not be trusted.” The venom in his voice sending a chill down my spine.

“Regardless if we don’t like them or not; here at the summit we need to show the other packs we are able to handle things in a manner worthy of our packs name father. I am not going to berate a women I do not know.” I spit back.

I start getting up from my chair done with this conversation. Looking at Lance and then my father.

“I am going to finishing packing. Our flight leaves in two hours I will meet you all in the lobby.” I state

Before they could reply I start walking out of the cafe. So many things are going through my head. Like why Leo and I felt the need to defend Shanna to my father. I know he hates the White Peak Pack and Alpha Josh; but his comment about Shanna mother was out of line. I am glad Shanna and Alpha Scott left. If she would have heard him I am sure my chance of ever fixing things would be out the window. As I am about to get on the elevator I hear my betas voice.

“Yo David, hold the door!” Lance yells.

I hold the elevator door and let him step inside.

“So what the hell was that? Lance says

“What do you mean?” I reply.

“You know what I mean bro. You defending Shanna to your father. Are you catching feelings for this girl. I knew she would be a challenge for you and we both know you love a chase; but this seems more?” He voice showing concern.

“Come on Lance you know me. I have never taken a girl seriously. She is no expectation. I just thought my father went to far about her mother.” I voice out.

“Ya what he said was definitely out of line there.” Lance replies.

I take a deep breath. “Look Lance Shanna will never be anything more then a one night stand. You know my father. He would never allow me to take Alpha Josh’s daughter seriously. Plus I would lose everything no girl is worth that!” I say

“Is that so? Not even your mate?” Lance says

“Thats different. Plus Shanna is not my mate okay.” I say loader then intended.

“You don’t know that. You won’t know until the next full moon. Are you going to invite her to the mating ceremony?” Lance asks me.

“No, I am not. Even if she lands up being my mate I would have to reject her. My father would never expect her. I would lose my pack and Nathan would take my place. My mother will suffer and so would our pack. This is my chance to make a difference Lance. Shanna can never be with me. Plus once I sleep with her I am sure I will get her out of my system.”

Not looking at Lance I step out of the elevator and head to my room. I can’t wait to get the hell out of here. Once I am back at the pack I will be able to think straight. No more distractions I will make this work and once I get Shanna things will go back to normal.

Scott POV

I couldn’t be happier right now. These last three days spending them with Shanna have made me even more sure that I want her. She will be the prefect mate. She is literally the most beautiful creature I have ever laid eyes on. She is also incredibly smart and kind. She is my dream girl. I am not looking forward to this ending. I learned some much about her during out time working together. She told be about her sweet tooth and that she loves cup cakes. I knew I had to surprise her before she leaves this afternoon. When I went to her room I wanted to see her one more time before she left. It made my day when she invited me to the cafe for coffee and cup cakes. Staring at her from across the table I can’t even image not having her. Sitting here talking with her feels right.

“So Scott are you going to be going to the warrior tournament next month?” Shanna’s sweet voice breaks me out of my thoughts.

“Ya we will be there. Will you be going with your father Alpha Josh?” I reply.

“Of course, I wouldn’t miss it. It is one of my favorite events of the year.” She replies. “Plus I can’t wait to hand the Black Forest Pack a ass whopping.” We both start laughing.

“Ya they are really different aren’t they?” Giving her a smile. “So Shanna I was thinking maybe I can visit you at White Peak Pack maybe take you on a date if you would allow me too?“

Holding my breath waiting for her reply. My hands are sweating and I have never been this nervous in my life.

“Ya sure I would like that Scott.” She replies

Finally letting out the breath I was holding in. I break into the biggest smile on my face. She actually said yes to me. I won’t waste this chance. I know given the chance I will make her happy.

“Great! Would next week work?” I say shooting my shot.

“Next week is not good for me.” Shanna replies when sadness clear on her face. “It is the anniversary of my mother’s death. I don’t think I will be much fun.”

“O Shanna I am sorry. We will schedule it for another time. I will text you to see what your schedule looks like. I know you are getting busy with the tournament coming up.” I reply; reaching out I place my hand on top of hers holding it tight.

“Thanks Scott for understanding.” Shanna whisper’s.

“So do you need help bringing your bags down from your room? I know you are about to leave in.” I say.

“Actually that would be nice” She replies.

As we get up from the table I throw my arm over her shoulder bringing her close whispering in her ear as we start to walk towards Alpha Conors table where David and their beta Lance are sitting.

“You would think that Alpha Conor has a stick up his ass with that face he has. He looks like he needs to take a crap.” I whisper in her ear.

I hear Shanna’s beautiful laugh echo through the cafe as we walk by making David turn around to look at us. Ya he looks pissed which makes the smile on my face even bigger. I can’t believe David thinks he has a chance with Shanna. His father hates Alpha Josh and rumor has it; it’s all because of Shanna’s mother Elena. My father Xavier has always been good friends with Alpha Josh. So when I became Alpha of our pack he told me a little bit of the story between Alpha Conor and Alpha Josh. It is said that they use to be friends. They were really close during their alpha training. It wasn’t until Elena showed up for Luna training that the two alpha’s started to drift apart. It is said that Elena was the most beautiful she wolf and with her pure blood line every alpha wanted a chance to win her affection. From what is said this is where the bad blood comes from. I heard that Luna Elena landed up dating Alpha Conor for a year but broke up with him for Alpha Josh later on finding out they were mates under the full moon. Everyone said Alpha Conor was so angry he threaten to kill Elena for her choice. It wasn’t until Elena’s parents having to step in did Alpha Conor back down. It almost caused a massive war between the two packs Black Forest and White Peak. Elena’s parents controlled the most powerful pack on continent the Black Mountain Pack located in northern Canada. Elena’s older brother Alpha Ivan took over when he turned twenty one. Alpha Josh also came from a rare bloodline in the United States which made them a prefect match.

When Elena passed away all the packs on the continent mourned her death. The only pack that did not show up to her services was of course Alpha Conor. Ever since then there has been no love between the two Alpha’s.

“Scott, Thanks again for helping me bring my bags down. I appreciate it.” Shanna whispers. As we finally make our way to the SUV where her father Alpha Josh and Beta Lance are waiting.

“It is always my pleasure Shanna.” I say placing her bags in the trunk of the black Q7 SUV.

“Alpha Scott! Please tell your father to come visit me soon. I have missed his company.” Alpha Josh says well shaking my hand.

“I will tell him Alpha Josh. I am planning on visiting your daughter with your blessing of course. I can bring my father with me to visit with you also if that is okay.” I reply

“Yes! That sounds like a great idea. Have you beta call to set it up.” Alpha Josh says as he steps into the front seat of the car.

I turn to help Shanna into the back seat offering her my hand as she steps in. Once she is seated I place a kiss on the back of her hand.

“I look forward to seeing you soon beautiful.” I whisper. I see Shanna’s cheeks slightly turn red.

“Well see you soon Alpha Scott.” She replies.

I close the door for her and watch as the black SUV pulls away. It may have only been a week; but in that week I feel like she imprinted on me. Watching her leave made me feel like a lost something. I don’t know how I am going to make it two weeks with out seeing her beautiful face. It might go crazy. These two weeks better fly by or I might just lose it.
