“No,” I say, as a chill sinks into my bones that has nothing to do with the falling temperature. “I think he lied to us.”
It all starts to come together in my head. Instead of looking at the differences in the timelines, I should have been looking at the things that remained constant. Future-Jeremy works for Pharmateka in every timeline, and in each one, the company gets more and more powerful while Aether gets weaker. And in each future we made decisions based on what Jeremy told us, believing all of his lies, chasing our tails while he carried out his own hidden agenda.
