Dimitri ran through the dense forest, his heart pounding hard in his chest. The howling wind whirled around him, heavy in the air with a scent of danger. Days, no, weeks, had gone by, yet there was just no Amelia. Each lead had gone cold, each trail vanished. Yet, he could not stop, would not stop until he found her. The blood moon was rising, but so, too, was a sense of urgency that gnawed deeper into his gut with every minute that had ticked by since she'd vanished. He knew she was in danger, that Jacobs was after her, the witches hunted for her, something darker still lurked in the shadows waiting for the perfect moment to strike. He couldn't lose her. Not now.
