Episode 3: Crossing Lines
Claire sat by her bedroom window, watching the city come alive beneath her. It had been two days since Ethan’s confession at the rooftop restaurant, and her mind was still tangled in the emotions of that night. She knew she had to make a decision soon—one that would shape the future for both of them.
As the morning light filtered through her curtains, her phone buzzed on the nightstand. It was a message from Ethan: Meet me at Central Park in an hour. I have something to show you.
Curiosity piqued, she quickly got dressed, throwing on a casual sweater and jeans before heading out the door. The crisp autumn air greeted her as she stepped onto the sidewalk, the golden hues of the leaves a stark contrast to the storm raging inside her heart.

Scene 1: A Walk Through Memories
Ethan was waiting by the Bethesda Fountain when Claire arrived. He smiled, though she could see the nervous energy behind his eyes.
“I wasn’t sure you’d come,” he admitted.
“I wasn’t sure either,” she replied honestly. “What did you want to show me?”
He gestured for her to walk with him, leading her along the winding paths of the park. “I wanted to take you somewhere special.”
After a few minutes, they arrived at a secluded bench overlooking the lake. Ethan motioned for her to sit before pulling a small, worn-out sketchbook from his coat pocket. He handed it to her.
Claire hesitated, then opened it, flipping through the pages. Her breath hitched as she recognized the sketches—scenes of New York, each one capturing intimate moments: a couple laughing in a café, a woman lost in thought by a window, an artist painting at sunset.
“These are beautiful,” she murmured, tracing the lines with her fingers.
“They’re all of you,” Ethan said softly.
She looked up, her eyes searching his. “You drew these?”
He nodded. “I’ve been sketching you since the night we met. I wanted to capture the way you see the world.”
Emotion swelled in her chest. “Ethan, I don’t know what to say.”
“You don’t have to say anything,” he said. “I just needed you to know.”

Scene 2: Facing the Past
Claire closed the sketchbook, holding it tightly in her lap. “This is a lot to take in.”
“I know,” Ethan said. “But I also know you’re scared. And I want to understand why.”
She exhaled slowly. “It’s not just Paris. It’s everything. Letting someone in again… trusting that they won’t leave.”
Ethan reached for her hand. “I’m not him, Claire.”
She flinched at the mention of her past. “I know that. But it doesn’t make it any easier.”
He squeezed her fingers gently. “Then let’s take it one step at a time.”
She met his gaze, uncertainty battling with hope. “You make it sound so simple.”
“It’s not,” he admitted. “But I’m willing to try if you are.”

Scene 3: The Decision
That evening, Claire sat in her studio, the sketchbook resting on the table beside her. She picked up a paintbrush, staring at the unfinished canvas in front of her.
For the first time in weeks, inspiration flowed through her veins. She dipped the brush into the paint and began to move it across the canvas, letting the emotions of the day take shape in color and form.
As the painting came to life, she realized something: She didn’t have to choose between her art and love. Maybe, just maybe, they could exist together.
And with that thought, she made her decision.
She picked up her phone and dialed Ethan’s number.
“I’m ready,” she whispered when he answered.
“For what?”
“For us.”
