“Daniel, what is she?” I asked panicked. The little bundle of fur and claws was nothing like her brother who was clearly a wolf.
“I think…” Daniel picked her up and assessed her more closely. “I think... she’s a cougar.”
“A what?! How is that even possible? Are there even were-cougars out there?!”
I was struggling to think straight as my son knawed on my fingers to try and get me to play.
“They’re rarer than rare but there’s some out there.” Daniel confirmed.
“How the hell have I had one? Can wolves even give birth to cougars?! That’s not possible!” I was still coming to terms with the fact I could give birth to anything.
“No.” Daniel’s answer was soft but sure. “If I hadn’t spent every day with you then I’d be convinced you’d cheated because a wolf can’t give birth to a cougar. It’s
