A Burning Revenge Scheme

Lulee’s POV. After all these years, I was finally face to face with the man I had despised for so long, the man I had planned every single moment of my life for, the man whose face kept me up at night. Just like I had guessed, he had no idea who was really standing before him and for a moment there, he looked like he was genuinely happy to see my face again but I didn’t let his fake smile deceive me, I knew just who he was under all that facade. “How…how did you survive it?” Vincent’s voice snapped me out of my thoughts. He sounded really surprised and emotional at the same time. I scoffed at his pathetic acting but made sure not to let it show. But the thought of spending the next few days with him until I was able to carry out my plan repulsed me. How could he look the same woman he had killed right in the face and act like nothing happened. With a wide smile on my face, I gave him a hug. He seemed too dazed to react, and as I stepped away from him, his eyes ran over my body with a stunned expression. Putting up with a fake smile this wide made my jaws ache, but I had no choice for now. To get this close to a monster like him, to get close enough to harm him, to make him pay for what he did, I would have to go to bed with him. I had to make him trust me, and the only way to do that was to become the only woman that had been present in his life. “I understand exactly how you feel Vincent, it still feels like a dream to me, but I am here now, and that’s all that matters to me.” I said to him as another smile curled on my lips. To make him very comfortable with me, I had to make sure he knew that I did not remember anything that happened in the past and from the look of things. He was actually buying it. “I was lucky someone had been around to save me when I got washed back ashore. It took so long for me to recover, and I had been unconscious for a while, that’s why I couldn’t return to you sooner.” To make it all make sense, I knew I had to come up with a good story, and I did just that. Luckily for me, he seemed to be buying it because he reached out slowly to touch me with a blank expression as if he was certain it was a ghost that was standing in front of him. I could have sworn that I saw his eyes tear up, but before I could get a good look at his face, he pulled me in for a very tight hug, and he inhaled my scent deeply. “I searched everywhere for you, Lulee. I left no stone unturned, but the guards couldn’t find anything.” He said emotionally. “I thought I had lost you for good, I thought…I thought…” his voice broke down, and his heartbeat was all I could feel against my body. It was beating so fast that I had to glance up at him, just to be sure he was alright. “You’re really here.” He muttered under his breath, and it sounded so sincere that one would think he wasn’t the one behind Lulee’s death. The nerve of the bastard to act like he didn’t kill her. The rage bubbling inside me as he held me close, threatened to seize control of me as my claws popped out, and I felt my wolf, Cora, stir and struggle to gain control. She growled her disapproval at having his body this close to ours. “Relax girl, we have more than enough time to make him pay for what he did to her. His death would be worse than hers. It would be very slow and painful.” I said to Cora through our mind link, and that calmed her down a bit. The thought of skinning him alive when it was time was enough to make her feel better. At that point, I felt his body stiffen as his hands dropped from my body. He took a step back from me, and when I looked up at his face, he wasn’t looking at me. Rather, he was looking directly behind me. With the look on his face, whatever was behind me definitely had a hold on him. I turned around slowly to find a beautiful, young woman dressed in what looked like a wedding gown, but the look on her face and her appearance didn’t exactly match her outfit. “Who’s the bride?” I asked with curiosity as I moved closer to her. “Vienna.” Vincent said behind me, but there was something about the way he pronounced her name that I did not like. I didn’t want to believe he had moved on so fast after her. He didn't get the luxury of moving on when I barely got any sleep at night. “Vienna.” I repeated as I came to stand directly in front of her. Her eyes held mine, and that was when I noticed something familiar about her. My eyes widened in surprise when I realized just who she was, but I was quick to hide my facial expression. If there was one thing I had learned to perfection over the years, it was the ability to mask my thoughts. It was a skill I desperately needed to master for the sake of my plan. “And you are?” She inquired. “His mate.” I responded with such confidence that it surprised her. She glanced back at Vincent, and I definitely didn’t miss the look in her eyes when she heard me. She fell silent afterwards, but her eyes didn’t leave Vincent’s. I wasn’t comfortable with the way she was looking at him, and I knew I would have to get rid of her if I was to carry on with my plan without any problems. “Do I know you?” Her voice interrupted my thoughts. She was staring directly at me and had a light frown on her face. I was shocked because I had thought she would never be able to recognize me. “Of course not. We have never met before.” I lied as I waved her off dismissively. “Now, if you don’t mind, I would like to have a word with my mate in private.” I added, and before she could say a word, I slammed the door shut in her face. I had panicked. The thought of someone recognizing and realizing just who I was scared me, but Vienna should not be a problem because I could easily get rid of her. “There is something I should tell you, Lulee.” Vincent said. I turned to face him with a smile plastered on my face. “When you were gone, I decided to take up the supreme position of the Alpha of Alphas and I needed a bride to do that so…” he glanced down, unable to meet my eyes while he said those words. “I got Vienna to play the role of my pretend bride.” He confessed. That explained the gown she was wearing. His ambitious move wasn’t a surprise to me, I had heard about it and also heard how vulnerable and desperate he was at that stage, which was why I decided to show up now. So, that didn’t bother me, what bothered me was Vienna’s role in my plan, she looked like she was going to be a pain in my ass and I wasn’t going to just stand back while a woman from my past, a past I had burnt and buried, ruined things for me. “I suggest we kill her and make it look like an accident, just like the bastard had done to her.” Cora suggested, and I grinned. That was it! The first stage of my revenge was to give him a taste of his own medicine and what better way to do that than to kill his new bride in the exact manner he killed her. “Why are you smiling?” Once again, his voice snapped me out of my thoughts. “Oh it’s nothing, just thinking about all the good times we spent together in this study.” I lied again, and he actually believed it because his eyes seemed to light up. He had no clue what was coming.
