Nursing Fox is my homage to those brave young women who served on the Western Front during World War I.
Nursing Fox Although they performed a crucial role, the nurses of the Australian Army Nursing Service are rarely mentioned in accounts of that conflict. It was impossible to cover every theatre of the war, so I opted to concentrate on the Casualty Clearing Stations in Flanders and France. They were the locations where the nurses were continually in the greatest danger. They shared the horrors with the fighting troops, and were routinely shelled and bombed. For the nurses, conditions on the Western Front were totally different to those they experienced while caring for the wounded from Gallipoli.
While vitally important to Australia, Gallipoli does not feature strongly in this story. Ot
