Betty I woke up cold and alone. I was alone on the couch Michael and I had fallen asleep on together. Logic followed panic after the fact, and I was beyond terrified. Maybe he had just been to the bathroom. "Michael?" I called out. No response. I checked the bathroom. Empty. The bedroom. Empty. The whole apartment was quiet and motionless. There was a note on the kitchen counter. My hands trembled as I raised it. "Had some important s**t to do. Trust me. I love you. Michael."
