After the third time I felt reality pulling me back. “I’ll wake you up when I get there.” I said to Eliott, standing up on my toes to kiss him one last time. When I opened my eyes and heard my alarm going off somewhere in the room. I disentangled myself from Eliott’s arms and walked to the kitchen to find it on the counter. After turning off the alarm I called into work coughing and sounding pitiful. I don’t usually take sick days so I wasn’t questioned too hard about missing one day of work. After hanging up I saw that there was a text from Brian. 2:15 am: I made it! I hope your night wasn’t too boring. Love you. I felt guilty but texted him back that I loved him too.
