Chapter 16Conri watched as Nick ate yet another slice of pizza and shook his head. Hilda grinned at him and Jared looked oblivious. “So…” Nick reached for his glass of water. “We go in blind? I don’t like going in blind.” Conri frowned. “What do you mean?” “When we’re meeting the b***h. Don’t you have any bird shifters? Or…a bat shifter?” “There are bat shifters?” Conri had never heard of any. “I don’t know, but I’m pretty sure you have at least one bird shifter in the territory.” Hilda changed position on the chair. “Who?” “I don’t know, but I spoke to the breakfast lady at the hotel by the train station, and she told me she’d seen a tropical bird the day before. She was excited about it, so I didn’t tell her it most likely was a shifter since we don’t get tropical birds up here.”
