Chapter Sixteen

I was currently standing on a pedestal in this beautiful and elegant clothing boutique. The internal design theme was white and champagne, antique beams stretched across the ceiling above my head with dazzling chandeliers that sparkled under the spotlights.  In front of me was a floor to ceiling mirror providing a lengthy view of the background behind me, I looked to Benny and smiled. He was currently perched on a cream velvet chair, grinning like a child at Christmas.  "If I wasn't gay Princess.." He sighed dramatically making me let out a small laugh.  I was currently standing in a cobalt blue floor length dress. A deep cut in the strapless neckline set my chest on display in a teasing manner. The top half of the dress fitted my body like a glove, a thin glistening band circled my waist before the dress flowed gracefully to the floor. A slit going up past my left thigh finished the dress off and with a set of strappy silver heels, I was besotted.  What would I use this dress for? I have no idea. My excuse at the moment was that it would be an emergency dress, last minute invitation and my dress is sorted.  "I don't want to take it off." I half whined swishing the material side to side while admiring its beauty in the mirror.  "Well keep it on and wear it to the show." Benny suggested, "Certain people might not be happy with the other dress anyways." He shrugged causing me to frown as I turned to him.  "Who?" I asked with a raised brow.  "Nevermind." He smiled.  The other dress that I decided to bravely treat myself too was another stunning dress. It was the same colour as sunshine, yellow and bright. I'm not going to lie, I have never worn a yellow dress but when I slipped it onto my body, the colour made my skin and eyes pop.  It wasn't an overly revealing dress, it was a mini dress style so it was understandably short. It had thin spaghetti straps and due to the design being a wrap style, the material tied in a ribbon at my waist.  "I'm wearing the yellow one tonight and I'll save this for something else." I smiled at Benny who nodded his head in agreement.  "You finished then? The show starts in three hours." Benny declared looking at the flashy watch on his wrist.  "I'm finished." I nodded taking one last look in the mirror.  On the way to the show, we quickly stopped off by my apartment so I could quickly get ready for heading to the show with Benny. I had a quick shower and brushed my teeth before quickly applying light makeup to my face. I let my long brown curls hang free and using my curling iron, I quickly added a few more for volume.  I spritz myself with some perfume, slipped into my gorgeous new dress and strapped up my gold heels which I paired with a gold sparkly purse. I left my diamond studs in my ears and as simple as that, I was done.  Benny had arranged for us to be picked up from my apartment and taken straight to the show. As we drove towards the back entrance of the venue, we only had two hours to spare and fans were gathering in a storm to get inside.  "Let's go Princess." Benny smiled as he opened my door for me, extending a hand like the gentleman he is and placing it in his arm as he walked beside me into the building.  We walked down a few corridors behind security as Benny made room for some small talk, the closer we got to the changing areas the more the excitement in his voice became evident.  "f*****g hell Johnny, how much s**t do you spray on you?" Benny whined the moment we opened the door to  the massive changing area. "I think I swallowed the entire f*****g bottle when I walked in the door." Benny added pretending to have a choking fit.  "Yeah well your good at swallowing so shut up." Johnny snapped back causing me to erupt into a full blown fit of laughter.  "It's funny, your mum is too." Benny sighed, "If only she swallowed the night she conceived you." At that comment and just by the look in Johnny's eyes, Benny started running with high pitched laughter out the changing area and down the corridors.  Johnny brushed past me shouting after him and giving chase like two school kids. I shook my head with a smile at their childish ways.  I looked around the room then, noticing Maddy sitting in the corner swiping down his phone but there was no sign of Grey.  "Hey Maddy, do you know where Grey is?" I asked as he looked upto me with a small smile.  "He'll b on stage checking everything over Ems. If you want to speak to him just head along the corridor on the left, take the last door on the right and head up the steps to backstage. You should see him then." He told me giving me a small wink. "You look beautiful." He grinned.  "Thanks Maddy." I smiled, "I'll go now so I can catch him before the show." I told him before making my way out the door laughing as he let off a audible wolf whistle.  I headed along the corridor with was longer than I would like to have walked and continued through the last door on the right. As Maddy told me, there was black metal steps leading to the backstage. Luckily there was only a few.  I walked past a black curtain and another before setting my sights on Grey. He didn't know I was there but I took this moment to study him in awe.  There he was, a badass rockstar playing the sweetest melody on the piano. I expected to see a guitar in his hand but there was none, it was just him and the piano. An enormous space filled with empty seats showcased in front of him and although he was the only one on the terrifyingly massive stage in front of me, he embraced and filled it all on his lonesome.  I smiled as he continued to gracefully play the keys, I knew instantly what song he was playing. He didn't sing along to begin with, it started with a sweet mumble before he found his angelic voice. It surprised me how talented he really was, I knew Grey from a young age could play a variety of musical instruments but his voice was also so adaptable. He could be rough and ragged one minute then soft and angelic the next.  "I find it very, very easy to be true I find myself alone when each day is through" I was completely besotted with this man. Everything that he was and everything he could ever be, I wanted. The thought of how much I wanted Grey was terrifying, he said himself that he doesn't do relationships so this is a dangerous territory for my heart.  I wanted to be ok with that, I wanted to believe I would be ok with that but how could I? I've wanted this fine specimen in front of me since I was eleven years old. I wasn't wise enough or experienced enough to know when to keep my heart locked away and with Grey I didn't want to. I wanted him to know how much he meant to me but he didn't accept my views easily.  Grey didn't like words, that's one thing I did learn. Even when I told him he was beautiful, he didn't like it but if I show him with actions, he accepts.  "Yes, I'll admit that I'm a fool for you Because you're mine, I walk the line" I would always walk the line for you Grey. I wanted to call out but I stopped myself. I was happy with whatever this was at the moment, if he wanted to play games along the way...I would deal with that when it's time to cross that bridge. I wanted to show him that I'm here, that I'll always be here and that if he lets me, I'll never go anywhere if he doesn't want me to.  I wanted to show him that I was here forever and not temporary. So for now, I'll swallow my pride and take in my stride anything I could with this man and hopefully, one day we can both find happiness from this situation.  After quickly lifting out my phone and taking a sneaky but very cute picture of him playing the piano, I decided to make my presence known. He noticed me straight away, his eyes locking with mines as I shyly smiled.  "As sure as night is dark and day is light I keep you on my mind both day and night" He continued to sing as I walked towards him, his eyes locked with mine and a heated passion in his eyes caused a reaction between my thighs. I cursed myself for skipping his offer earlier.  "And happiness I've known proves that it's right Because you're mine, I walk the line." Just as I reached him, he stopped playing the keys and his eye contact dropped. He let out a tired sigh before taking in my outfit with a small smirk playing on his lips.  "Trying to impress someone Angel?" He teased with a playful glint in his eyes.  "Nope." I smiled popping the 'p' as I took a seat next to him on the piano bench, "Only you." I smiled teasingly as his hand reached for my bare thigh, his smirk still present as his hand applied promising and delicious pressure to my bare skin.  "Points for the effort Angel, you look beautiful." He smiled before leaning his head to the crook of my neck, finding my ear before whispering "If you really wanted to impress me though, you could have just came out here naked." I gasped and playfully slapped his arm causing him to laugh.  "I think someone needs to get their mind out the gutter Mr Scott." I playfully teased as he smirked.  "Only for you, Miss Theron." He teased back.  He seemed to be in a relatively happy mood tonight, he was being playful and teasing away. I'll embrace this for as long as I can. Grey's behaviour wasn't always the most detectable, sometimes he was like a ticking time bomb. Why? I have no idea.  "You know I've always wanted to learn how to play the piano?" I told him truthfully looking down at the keys in front of me, the piano was a beautiful and melodic instrument. It can make you dance but it also had the power to help you relax and zone out.  "You told me the same thing when we were younger, I tried to teach you and your attention span would last all of two minutes." Grey laughed causing me to roll my eyes.  "I tried but it was distracting." I admitted shrugging my shoulders.  "Distracting? You didn't seem interested Angel." He snickered from beside me as I gave him a playful glare.  "For your information my dearest, it was distracting." I smiled, "Do you know how hard it is to concentrate when beside you there is a beautiful thirteen year old boy, holding your hand and guiding you to the keys. You touching my hand probably made my year." I giggled remembering my childish ways. The moment Grey touched my hand when we were younger, deliberately or accidentally, I would turn beet red. I pulled petals in my head saying "he loves me, he loves me not". It was a little crazy, I'll admit.  "Wait really?" Grey sighed dramatically, "I thought it was because you were being a little brat." He tutted causing me to elbow him in the side with a glare.  "Grey!" I scolded as he laughed his head off.  "I'm joking Angel." He smirked, "I used to do it deliberately you know, your little cheeks would always turn bright red so half the time I did it to just tease you." He informed with me another chuckle as I glared.  "Ass." I grumbled looking out towards the thousands of empty seats in the stadium.  We sat in a comfortable silence for a few moments before Grey let out a sigh and me a small squeal as he lifted me by the waist and onto his lap effortlessly. He was smirking, I could tell. "What are you doing?" I asked confused as he grabbed my hands in his and hovered them above the piano keys.  "Shhh." He whispered placing a soft kiss against my shoulder, "Don't think Ems, just feel." He told me quietly as my hands began to move with his over the piano.  Surprisingly even with my hands firmly under his, the melody to this song was beautiful. I could see why Grey appears so lost in the music when he plays, it embraces you and calms you in the strangest of ways. I closed my eyes, letting Grey guide my hands and felt the tune of the melody coursing through my body.  I didn't recognise this song but I could tell that it was slow, maybe a beginners starting point. He had slowed his rhythm down for me, allowing me to study his movements and appreciate his gracefulness.  "Your so good at this." I complimented as his hands came to a halt.  "I've had years of practice Angel." He smiled wrapping his right arm around my waist while rubbing gentle circles into my back.  "You've always been amazing with instruments though." I told him with a shrug and small smile elaborating my findings.  "Just like you've always been amazing with writing." I winced at the subject of writing remembering what happened earlier.  "Yeah...I guess." I told him with a small smile and hoping he didn't catch a flaw in my statement.  Journalism was under review with myself for the moment, that's one thing I knew for certain.  "It's time for me to change Angel." He sighed placing another gentle kiss on my shoulder, "Once I'm finished here tonight, you can ride with me if you want to the after party?" He offered with a smile.  "Absolutely." I grinned back.
