Chapter Twelve

The elevator made its regular noise as it opened and loud music filled my ears. I was a mess. I probably had a blotchy face from my crying, tears welling in my eyes and running down my face. I was freaking cold due to the fact that I quickly laced my converse and literally raced to Grey's penthouse. I left Benny calling my name, begging me not to mention anything but I couldn't careless.  My f*****g brother betrayed him.  I don't know what hurt more. The fact it was my own flesh and blood that betrayed Grey or the fact that he's like a brother to him. You don't betray your brothers. No bloody wonder Grey had issues with me, clearly my brother tarnished this before it even started and I was unaware of it all.  I looked around the apartment, noticing Grey immediately. My flight was in two hours but at this point I couldn't give a s**t. I needed to hear the truth from Grey, I wanted to know what my brother did.  He was standing with his back to me, looking like he was stirring a freshly brewed coffee. He was gently swaying to the music, letting it consume his entire body. He was wearing a black top and matching skinny jeans, tattoos on show, hair messy on his head and barefoot. He was perfection.  I wanted to smile at him but I couldn't, I just stood there and cried.  He turned placing his cup on the island before looking up towards me. He looked angry by the intrusion but the moment his eyes locked with mine they softened, concern flashing through them. He pressed a button on the remote in front of him and the music stopped.  My cries filled the room. He was over to me in a flash , taking his last steps cautiously and looking me up and down for any sign of injury.  "What's wrong?" He panicked, "Are you hurt?" He asked concerned reaching out for my arm.  I let him pull me into him, the moment my head was against his chest, I sobbed. I clenched my hands into his shirt as he held me, he reached under my pullover and rubbed gentle circles onto my back hushing me with calming words.  "You ok?" He asked pulling away to check my face, I left of a small nod as he brought his hand up drying my tears.  "I-Benny he..." "Shhh." He hushed me, holding my cheeks between his hands and crouching down so he was eye level. "Breathe Angel...in and out." He mimicked breathing deeply and I followed, feeling my breath come back to me.  "Benny." I stopped feeling myself well up again.  "Breathe baby." He told me placing a light kiss to my forehead, "Benny what?" He asked resting his forehead against mine.  "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." I cried.  "Your not making any sense Angel." He chuckled lightly.  "W-what did my brother do?" I asked him and immediately his muscles tightened, it was true.  "What did Benny say?" He asked demandingly.  "Jase." I breathed out shakily.  "Jase." He repeated, "Breathe baby your shaking." He scolded pulling me closer to him.  "What did he do Grey?" I asked. "Benny said..Benny said he betrayed your trust and hurt you, what did he do?" I asked in a rush taking deep breaths between each word.  "How about we calm down." He told me softly, "Clean your sticky little face up and we can chat over a nice coffee?" He asked sweetly, consoling me like I was a child.  "Grey...I'm sorry. I didn't know and I.." "Don't." He warned, "Don't you f*****g dare apologise for his actions. This is nothing to do with you, I don't want to hear another apology leaving those pretty little lips. Understood?" He scolded.  "Yes." I relied quietly.  "Let get you cleaned up." He told me reaching down to grab my hand before walking into the kitchen area. He placed his hands on my waist, lifting me effortlessly of the ground and placing my bottom on the island.  I immediately flushed remembered what happened here a few nights before.  He took a paper towel and damped it with some water from the basin before turning his attention back to me, letting out a soft chuckle.  "I thought someone had died Ems, you look shaken to the core." He told me his chuckle ending and a frown replacing his lips.  "My brother hurting you, someone who my family see's as family does bloody hurt." I told him, "He betrayed you Grey, I'm not ok with that. He hurt you." I growled out, "You should have named and shamed him, cut him from your life and never thought twice about it. Who does he think he is, he think he can just hurt you and sweep it under..." "Shhh." He told me placing a finger against my lips. "Your angry." He half assumed.  "Angry isn't the word." I told him through clenched teeth, "I want to punch him in the bloody face and disown his ass." I snapped as he smirked.  "He's your brother baby, it's not possible." He lightly chuckled as he wiped my sticky cheeks.  "He hurt you." I whispered out causing him to freeze. "He hurt you and I didn't know, you should have told me Grey. I would have supported you and stood in your corner. What he did was wrong. Brother or not, I will always fight your fight if I believe that you were wronged or unfairly treated. I care about you and the thought that my own Brother could do such a thing it's.." "Emily!" He half shouted causing me to stop blubbering. "Breathe." He demanded his eyes soft.  "I am." I muttered causing him to chuckle.  "Now you are." He confirmed with a small nod, "Listen what happened with Jase, we spoke about it and dealt with it between the two of us. It happened not long after my da...it happened, around two years ago." He didn't want to speak about his dad, noted. "He told me his shitty excuse and I let it slide, we're friends." He confirmed as I shook my head confused, Benny told me this caused trust issues.  "But Benny told me that it tarnished your trust with other people?" I asked confused as his lips thinned.  "Ems my trust issues started way before Jase did anything." I frowned.  "What happened?" Immediately he pulled back putting space between us, he was shutting himself off again. "You know what, it doesn't matter. I just want you to know that I'm here for you always. Maybe one day you'll tell me?" I asked ambitiously causing a small smile to form on his lips, he's back.  "Maybe."  I was still at Greys apartment at 8pm, I had missed my flight by an hour but I didn't mind as I was actually having a little bit of fun. Benny, Johnny and Maddox all came to the penthouse to have a few beers with Grey. We decided to chill and watch a movie together, I got to pick which one.  "This is f*****g bullshit." Maddox grumbled causing me to throw a spare pillow at his head from the sofa.  "Shut up Maddy." I whisper roared.  The room was in darkness and all of us got comfortable on the sofa, scattered at different parts. Benny was to my left, Grey to my right and Maddox and Johnny took separate ends.  "I think it's so romantic, I wish a man would do that for me." Benny sighed dreamily.  "You just need to go on a carnival ride Benny, maybe one will hang from your ride and ask you on a date." I giggled as he beamed at the thought.  "We're going to find some rides tomorrow." Benny replied excitedly causing my excitement to fly.  "We totally can. There's this big one about a ten minute drive away, we can go tomorrow and grab some lunch together!" I enthusiastically told him bouncing a little in my seat, he too was the same as me. We probably looked weird but who cares.  "The both of us will probably find Mr Right tomorrow then, it's settled." He told me with a s**t eating grin.  "Nothing's settled." Grey muttered, "We have a show tomorrow, remember Benny?" He added sounding a little bit husky, I turned to him and his eyes were narrowed.  "We don't have our show until 7pm. Sound check is at 6pm and we will be back well before then won't we  Princess?" He asked and indirectly I knew what he did, I was now narrowing my eyes at him too.  He was throwing me under the bus with Grey.  "I mean, yeah if that's all right." I turned to Grey, "We will be back just after lunch." His face was turning stoney again, he didn't look amused and I could tell his mood was again shifting. "After it though I'll come to the show and I'll ride along for the after party if that's ok?" I rushed, I could see his lip thin but he was smiling at least.  "Won't you be going home?" Benny piped up, "You had a flight was it tonight or tomorrow?"  "It was tonight at 7pm but I missed it, you guys are only here for another night away and I'll be back in time for Sunday dinner with my family." I told him lifting a spoonful of cookie dough ice cream upto my lips.  "Your flight?" Grey asked leaving forward more on the sofa to see my face. "You were going home tonight? Why didn't you go?" He asked hammering me with questions.  "I was going to head back home tonight." I confirmed with a nod. "I got distracted and I want to spend some time with you guys so I thought I would wait until you's head to your next location and I'll head back home." I told him fighting a frown.  After tomorrow, I probably won't see Grey for weeks.  "Just catch your flight with me." Grey suggested causing me to raise my brows, "your Madre (mother) invited me to the family dinner." He smirked.  "Just you?" I asked shocked.  "No, me and my mum." My mum and dad hosting Grey and his mum around our dinner table, wasn't uncommon. However, it was something that was considered as a somewhat of a special dinner. Something they always did if they had to share something with the family and to them, Grey was family as are his parents.  "Oh." I replied quietly.  I felt anxious about this dinner now, wondering what may be the cause for it. My thoughts running over matters such as sickness or a death possibly. How would I be able to say to them about me giving up publishing now?  "I'm sure it's nothing Ems." Grey whispered quietly beside me, he must have moved closer because he was now brushing my arm.  Even he knew that it only happened when something had to be said.  "Yeah." I replied with a small smile.  "This dude is f*****g weird." Johnny moaned, "You shouldn't have to work that hard to get a girl in bed for f**k sake." His outburst caused a giggle to rise in me.  "Emily, my beautiful darling princess...do you love me?" Maddox suddenly spoke up batting his eyelashes, I continued giggling.  "My handsome little prince, of course I do." I giggled out as his face turned free of emotion, all humour gone.  "Then please for the love of god, turn this s**t off and let me pick something!" He growled out. I choked on my ice cream with laughter at his face, clearly Maddox wasn't one for romance.  "It's almost finished." I told him, "Now be quiet because the boat and pier scene is my favourite part." I snapped playfully, Grey was smirking beside me.  "Grey come on man, tell the lady to turn this s**t off." Johnny groaned.  "The lady said this was her favourite part, shut up or leave." He grumbled and I smiled satisfied, leaning over and placing a small kiss against his temple.  "Thank you Grey-Bear." I told him, looking towards Johnny with a smug smile.  "Fine grumpy." Johnny muttered back, popping some popcorn in his mouth.
