Chapter 5 Rosey drove Jade home. Working to keep her voice even, she said, “I don’t like the way things are between us. We’re growing apart.” Silence. “Are you happy with the way things are at home?” Silence, but she shook her head. “We need to talk about things, serious things. What’s bothering you? What makes you happy? What are you afraid of? What are your plans?” Silence. Jade turned her head away and wiped her eyes. Rosey put a hand to her daughter’s thigh.
