The next morning, Rosey made a full breakfast, with over-easy eggs, oatmeal, pancakes, and Canadian bacon that Jade loved. Jade left for community college, Rosey cleaned the kitchen, read to distract herself, and took a nap before heading to work for her three P.M. work shift. Five hours later, she got a text from Jade. Sick. Stomach pain. Bad. She was pretty stoic and wasn’t known to fake illness. Rosey replied, Any reason for it? Overeat? Drinking? Been building all day. Bad. One of the reasons Rosey bid her current assignment, according to police association rules, was so she could check on Jade. Rosey sent a computer IM to her lieutenant.
