Chapter 9
Akira strolled to the back and checked all over the storeroom and couldn’t find what Marshall wanted. Beleaguered, she returned to the store area to find Jade, smirking with a bouquet of carnations. She wore her sexy, long Goth coat and awesome, dangling earrings of skulls. Marshall looked like the cat that ate the canary.
Jade extended the flowers forward. “Happy Tuesday.”
“Wheee!” Akira jumped and clapped her hands. “I’ve never gotten flowers before.” She took the array, scented them, and squeezed Jade tight, holding the flowers aside. “Carnations are my favorites.” After they kissed and got some applause from the few customers present, Akira gave a pretend snarl to Marshall. “You were in on it. That’s why you sent me to the back.”
