Jade climbed into bed. She wondered as to the future with Akira, knowing school romances fade. She’d had other girlfriends who were sort of special, but none so totally special. They never lasted long. It was like a cosmic connection with Akira. She laughed at the silly comparison to silly romance novels. She compared her situation to Akira’s. What did Jade really have against her mother? Sure, she didn’t respond to Jade coming out at her fourteenth birthday, but it was reasonable that Mom had worked a long day and was asleep on her feet. It bothered Jade, but it was reasonable. Maybe she needed to be more reasonable rather than emotional.
