Chapter One                        Hunter was seated at the head of the long table looking through the notes that Lord Ragnar had given him this morning, next to him sat Amelia who was wearing her silver scaled armour. Followed by Sam, Phillip, Stephen and Hanna. The six of them were ranked from skill and experience since Amelia was a mage she was a little more powerful than the rest earning her spot at second in charge, while Hunter had the most experience. As his father was a dragon rider before him. He cleared his throat before looking at everyone glancing at them before speaking, "It seems there is a little village not far from here that's being attacked by a rogue dragon. According to Lord Ragnar, the village has tried everything and can't get the dragon to leave. He wants us to go investigate and hopefully capture it or lead it away from the village." "What if we can't do both?" Phillip asked as he ate his sandwich he had brought in with him. Amelia looked over at him with a risen eyebrow, what did he think they were going to do? "Then we lead the villagers to safety, there has to be a reason why the dragon is attacking the village," she explained. She didn't want to know what Phillip was thinking, even if she was pure dragon blood she still felt for dragons. They were a way of life too, she ran her hand down her silver dragon scaled armour. Their armour was made from fallen dragons either from battle or old age. It was a way to show their love for dragons and it's not easy trying to skin or cut dragons. Phillip looked at Amelia, "I didn't ask you I asked Hunter," he growled lowly making her frown. "She's right Phillip, if we can't capture the dragon or set it away from the village, we will get the villagers out of there. Amelia is my right-hand women, she has the ability to speak as well, everyone here does," Hunter snapped back. Amelia played with her purple locket around her neck, most dragon riders had dragon teeth around their neck while she didn't. Amelia isn't a full-blooded dragon rider, her family never believed in riding dragons but she did. It's why she joined them 6 years ago. "We will be heading out in about 10 minutes, Gretel has seen to the dragons and is getting them ready for us," Hunter said as he stood up from his chair. The 6 of them exited the conference room one by one, their guildhall was on the opposite side of the dragons home in Farthing Palace. Amelia grabbed her black coat that was hanging on the coat rack outside and placed it on clipping it at the neck. Her gloves were made of dragon skin, making them strong and hard to break and put spells on, she knew most mages hated what she had become but she couldn't care less; it wasn't normal every mage thought. Phillip slammed his fist in the wall behind her catching his attention. "You think you can waltz in and take Sam's place? He was next to be in line, not you. You are just a mage and nothing more," He growled. Amelia looked into his blue eyes, "I didn't ask to be put in second command, but we can't go against what our leader Hunter had chosen. I may not be a full-blooded Dragon rider but I can sure put up a fight. You might not like me for who I am but we are in this together whether you like it or not." She ignored him after that and headed to the dragons home, she didn't like being judged by who she was. She knew mages aren't well-liked around dragon riders as some have turned evil or have slain dragons in the past but she isn't like any of them. Amelia was blessed with dragon blood at a young age; it helped her survive when everyone had lost faith in her. That's when she met her dragon Ethrinria (erth-rin-ria), from then the two of them have shared a bond no one has never seen; it seemed to shock everyone whenever see her. It's also the reason why she's the only mage who create and summon dragons when needed. Hunter was stroking Hilverrion (hil-ver-rion) black scales, he was worried about this mission but also worried about Phillip, it wasn't for his laziness but his hatred for Amelia, he knew that could ruin this mission. If he had to choose someone to leave it would be Phillip because of how lazy he is, Amelia knows when and how to take control of a situation and no one has seen her at her fullest. He heard footsteps and turned to see Amelia standing in front of Ethrinria offering a dead lamb to her. Ethrinria bent down and took the lamb out of her hands, he always wondered why those two were so close. It took his years to get close to and bond with Hilverrion. He watched closely as Amelia created a small dragon in her hands making it dance around which seemed to always entertain Ethrinria, "This always calms her down before a mission. She's been a bit edgy lately" she explained as she turned around to Hunter. He looked at Ethrinria than Amelia, "Is she alright? She's not sick?" He asked. She shook her head and sent Hunter a reassuring smile, "No, she's not sick. I don't know what it is but every time I create a fire dragon with my hands she seems to calm down. Has Hilverrion been acting a little edgy lately?" Hunter frowned as he thought for a few seconds, "No he hasn't. Normally if there was any sort danger he would react but at the moment nothing." Amelia was about to reply when Hanna, Phillip, Sam and Stephen walked in. Gretel handed Hunter a bag filled with gadgets they might need on the mission. Amelia climbed onto Ethrinria's saddle and grabbed the leather strap that was tied around her neck. Hunter followed in suit getting on Hilverrion, "Alright everyone, the leader of the village Blann Marsson will be awaiting our arrival." Amelia, Hanna, Stephen and Phillip nodded before the 6 of them took to the sky with their dragons. Amelia loved the feeling of the air hitting her face and the rush she felt as Ethrinria flew upwards. She felt as if she could sit on the clouds. Ethrinria flapped her wings getting a little bit more speed. Amelia let go of the leather strap keeping her feet in the stirrups. Massive amounts of wind flow through the hairs of the 6 dragon riders, the higher they went the more wind went through their bodies. The sound of the wind makes them all feel calm, watching as the vagrant, white and puffy clouds move swiftly as they were teasing each other. One barley touches the other, moving freely in the sky. Amelia smiled to herself as she moved her hands in a circular pattern, a twinkling light of silver and gold appeared on her hands before moving her right hand through the closet cloud. The 5 dragon riders watched as small little tiny dragon clouds appeared jumping beside them as if they wanted to race against them. Laughs filled the bodies of Hunter, Hanma, Stephen and Sam while Phillip grumbled to himself, he didn't like the way she was using her magic and he knew it was only a matter of time until she would snap and turn evil like the rest of the mages in history. The sky was beautiful, different shades of blue from light blue to indigo made it seem perfectly balanced, the bright yellow sun hit their faces and slowly the warmth of the sun took away the coldness from the wind only for a short while. It was an honour for anyone to see the sky like this and appreciate how beautiful and peaceful it truly was. Birds squaked as they flew past them heading to a warmer place as the season was changing. The 6 dragon riders could ride through the sky for hours, if they could they wouldn't return home especially Amelia, she loves feeling free. It helped her relax. It wasn't long until the dragons made a sound letting the dragons they were here, Amelia grabbed the leather straps again allowing Ethrinria descend towards the village. One by one the dragons landed on the ground just out of the village when Hilverrion's head shot upwards looking into the direction of the forest that village was near. He stomped his foot a few times before sniffing the air.
