Chapter 25

1002 Words
Alpha Desmond could only feel empty without the embrace of his mate. He couldn't believe he had finally found her. He thought his true mate was dead, leading to him not finding her. But now she was here, and she was his wife. He stretched his arms towards Odessa's clothes for cuddling, only for his hands to meet a cold bed. Alpha Desmond's eyes opened in a snap. His eyes adjusted to the darkness of his room. He saw Odessa's bed was cold and empty. He stood up, looking around. Odessa. He called out, but no reply came. Where was she? Alpha Desmond's heart raced as he searched the room for his mate. His wolf was restless inside him. Thinking about different scenarios in his head. Where is she? Has she run from us? Des questioned. Desmond could feel his tail sagging in despair. She could never run away from this. She likes us. Desmond tried to reassure himself, rather than his wolf. But his mind kept playing tricks on him. He saw Odessa and his Beta Alaric in a compromised and intimate position. When he saw that, he was barely able to keep his wolf away as he wanted to s***h Alaric's hands off Odessa's waist and tear him to shreds. He imagined crushing his head until his barely beating heart was in his fist. But something stopped him before he could take such actions. He remembered the last time he gave himself to his bloodlust. And what happened to his former wife, Ellady. He couldn't let Odessa see him in such a state and let the bloodlust make her run away from him, or worse, kill her. He just couldn't, or it'd be the end of him. He had to search for her. Alpha Desmond's heart raced as he searched the room, his senses on high alert. He could smell Odessa's scent, but it was faint, as if she had left a while ago. Who was he kidding? He could sense that Odessa barely slept in the room after they lay down. She must have left hours ago. Desmond growled at himself, his mind racing with different scenarios. What if she still went with him? Desmond slashed the walls with his claws as he thought of Odessa being with Alaric. Desmond didn't understand why Odessa couldn't feel the mate bond like he did. The bond was too strong for him, almost too strong. He could barely breathe any time he thought of being away from Odessa. She was his and his alone, and he couldn't wait to claim her. Desmond snarled, his mind racing with thoughts of where she could be. He stormed out of the room, his bare feet pounding the cold floor. He called out again, Odessa, where are you? But she didn't answer. No one was on these floors except him. Odessa! He screamed again, hoping for some answers. His scream echoed throughout the whole house, making all the wolves in the packhouse awake. Odessa! Desmond screamed again, getting desperate. His Beta ran out towards Desmond, approaching with his wife close by. Alpha, what's wrong? Desmond looked at him, his face pained. He snarled. She's gone. I can't find her, Beta. George squeezed his face in confusion, not understanding why his Alpha was restless. Who, my Alpha? Who's gone? Odessa, he answered, his eyes scanning the hallway for any signs of her. Find her now. George nodded and took off, rallying the other wolves to search the entire pack, in and out. Where do you think she went? his wife asked him curiously. Her face unreadable. I don't know, my lovely wife, but I'll find out. Just go home safe, and I'll be there in a few hours. She nodded. Walking back to her chambers. Desmond paced back and forth, his anxiety getting the better of him as it grew with each passing moment. Where could she be? And why would she leave in the middle of the night without him? Desmond was already losing hope in George. He had to find out where Odessa might be. Before he could make any movement, Delta Lyric walked out of his chambers. His eyes set on Desmond. He walked towards Desmond, an expression of confusion on his face. Why was the Alpha angry? Desmond growled, his anger taking control of him. Immediately, Alaric was within his reach. He immediately dragged him. Hitting him hard against the wall, cracking it. How dare you? Desmond roared, enraged. Alaric winced in pain after being thrown like a rag. His head bled due to the impact, but after a few seconds, he began to heal. How dare you take my mate away from me? Desmond growled, his fangs bared. No, no, my Alpha, I would never. Alaric lied, his eyes pleading. He continued. I couldn't have. I've been in my chambers throughout the night. You could see I was coming from there moments ago. Desmond listened to him, his heart still pounding with adrenaline. He wanted to unleash his wrath on him, but he restrained himself. What he said was true. Desmond wondered. Please, my Alpha, I would never do that to your mate. Never. Alaric pleaded, feigning innocence. Alpha Desmond let go of Alaric, throwing him to the ground. Stay away from my Luna, he warned. Where could she be? His mind was still restless. As he eyed Alaric suspiciously, he made a mental note as to where she could be, and the realization dawned on him that she was new to the pack and knew nowhere. Just as he was about to lose hope, Beta George returned. A look of relief on his face. Alpha, we found her. She's in the library with the librarian, Simeon. Desmond turned to look at George and a pack member. He looked at the beautiful girl behind them. And couldn't help but run to hug her, but his mind still held questions. What was she doing in the library in the middle of the night?
