Goodbye “Xavier!”
Delta Xavier heard this word that shook him to the bones.
Is this how he was going to die?
Desmond's eyes flashed crimson red as he descended on Xavier's neck, his throat thirsting for blood.
“Alpha!”
The voice of a man screamed at the top of his lungs, a voice filled with fear.
Alpha Desmond turned to the person who had interrupted his meal.
Beta George stood by the door, his eyes filled with fear as he witnessed the monstrous nature of his Alpha, while Delta Xavier stood in complete shock.
Alpha Desmond's gaze veered from Xavier to Beta George, his eyes blazing with a vicious crimson-red intensity.
“Alpha, what are you doing?”
Beta George asked, confused.
He looked at the position and the wild nature of the Alpha and made his conclusion.
It was not his Alpha who stood before him.
It was a beast after blood.
“Alpha, stop. Snap out of it.”
He demanded, taking several steps into the office.
“You do not have to give in to your l**t. Think about Odessa. Think about your Luna.”
He tried to reason with him.
Desmond took a step back, dropping the almost unconscious Delta.
Desmond took several steps closer to George.
George held still, staring straight at Desmond.
“I do not fear you, Alpha. Not at all. This is not who you are.”
“Control your rage and then your l**t, one at a time.”
He took several more steps closer to Desmond until they were standing only a hand's length away.
“Breathe, Alpha. Take a deep breath.”
He instructed.
Desmond's chest heaved, his breathing ragged as he struggled to regain control.
He took several deep breaths, trying to keep his mind on one person he began to care about.
One person who had become his favorite person.
One person who was his mate.
Odessa.
Slowly, his eyes returned to their normal color.
George smiled.
He had used this process anytime he came to contain his Alpha during the bloodlust.
Most of the time, it didn't work, but thankfully, it did now.
George couldn't help but think it was due to Odessa, his Luna.
Desmond shook his head in a daze.
“George?”
He questioned after seeing his Beta.
“I... I apologize.”
Desmond stammered, his voice laced with shame.
“It is not your fault, Alpha.”
George shook his head.
“You didn't choose to be born with such a condition. And it's not me you should be apologizing to. It's him.”
Desmond followed George's eyes to where he was looking.
Delta Xavier sat on the floor, his head resting against the wall, trying to catch his breath.
He was still in shock at his near death.
“You...”
He took a deeper breath.
“You almost killed me, Alpha.”
George immediately rushed to Xavier's side, trying to raise his muscular body.
“Alpha,” Xavier continued, “your l**t increases as the days pass by.”
He concluded.
He had seen the Alpha's blood rage several times, but never this intense.
Desmond stood in the middle of the room, unsure of what to say or do.
He nearly killed his Delta.
Was he becoming more of a monster?
What would Odessa say?
Xavier walked over the broken glass, picking a bottle that survived the crash.
He took a large gulp of the drink.
George watched him as he enjoyed it.
He turned to Desmond and saw his conflicted expression.
He placed a firm hand on Desmond's shoulder.
“I know what you're thinking, Alpha.”
George said understandingly.
“You're not a monster, my friend, and she'll accept you for who you are, as she already has.”
Desmond nodded, but his heart was not at ease.
He could feel his bloodlust growing every day and forcing itself to consume him.
The question was, when?
A hooded figure walked slowly through the pack house, conscious of everyone and everything around her.
Her eyes trailed through the narrow path in front of her.
Suddenly, the person she was looking for came from the other end of the path.
She looked down, hiding her face beneath the hood.
Intentionally, she collided hard with Beta George's shoulder, almost knocking him off.
“Can't you watch where you're going? Are you blind?”
She heard Beta George say, his glance penetrating her figure.
But she continued down her path, not answering him.
As she took a turn around the corner, her red hair accidentally fell from her hood, and she immediately stuffed it back.
The key she had stolen from Beta George was dangling in her hand.
She smiled cunningly at her success.
Immediately, she inserted the key into the keyhole, opening the door.
A woman's scream immediately penetrated her ears, making her wince.
“Who are you?”
Claudia screamed in fright, staring at the hooded figure in front of her.
“Answer me, or I'll call the pack warriors now.”
Claudia threatened, making a smile appear at the corner of the hooded figure's mouth.
“You will do no such thing.”
The figure dropped her hood, allowing the huge, beautiful red hair to drop, exposing her face.
Claudia's eyes widened.
“Emma?”
She couldn't believe her eyes.
“What are you doing here in my house?”
Claudia questioned, perplexed by the sudden arrival.
Emma smiled at her.
“I just came for a friendly visit. Can't a lady visit her friend again?”
Claudia shook her head.
“It's dangerous. If anyone were to find you here, they'd probably kill you. Did anyone see you come here?”
Claudia questioned, looking worried.
“Nobody did. Now, did you get what I asked you for?”
Emma questioned.
Suddenly, in a rush, Claudia locked her door, checking if anyone was coming.
She turned towards Emma.
“I'm sorry. No.”
She shook her head.
“But I did get some information from my husband. I think you'll like it.”
Emma was frustrated.
She didn't like how slow her plans were being.
She wanted to be done with Odessa and take back everything she had stolen from her.
“What is it that you found?”
Emma asked uninterestedly.
She was sure nothing could make her happy except one thing.
And Claudia failed to get it.
Claudia's eyes gleamed with mischief.
“Let's just say the Alpha is not who we think he is.”
Emma squeezed her face in confusion at Claudia's words.
What was she saying?
Claudia continued.
“Alpha Desmond is a hybrid.”
Emma's eyes widened at the revelation.
“What?”
She couldn't believe it.
Hybrids were rare and even rarer for one to grow without dying at birth.
Claudia noticed the shock on Emma's face and grinned.
“That's not all. He suffers from bloodlust.”
Emma choked on her saliva after hearing this.
Bloodlust?
Her plans just got better and better.
A sinister grin flashed across Emma's lips as an idea popped into her head.
“Maybe I don't need to kill Odessa myself.”
“Her husband can do that for us.”
“He just needs a little push.”
“And I'm just the woman for the job.”
