Chapter 21

1008 Words
What truth? Odessa demanded, trying her best to sound braver than she felt. She could not appear weak in front of this man. I can only show you, not tell. He walked into the huge library. Opening the door, as the smell of old parchment and books filled her nose, "Follow me." Odessa stood still, confused about whether to go back to bed with her husband. Or follow Alaric and find out what he was about to tell her. But her curiosity got the better of her as she walked into the dark library, following Alaric deeper into each section. How big is this building? Odessa whispered to herself. She was tired of walking and wanted to sit down. Large enough to hold numerous secrets. Alaric heard her words using his wolf. Hearing Odessa didn't respond to him, still deep in thought. How were you able to call me in my chambers? Odessa suddenly remembered. No presence was felt. Only a whisper. Alaric's whisper. Alaric smiled. It's just something I can do, and only you can hear. He looked at her, his face suddenly serious. You're more special than you think, Bella, more than anyone could consider. But for now, you just have to trust me. He sounds unusually serious for someone like him. Trust him? Areia scoffed. They arrived in front of a huge wall, which seemed to be their bus stop. Odessa looked at Alaric like he was crazy. You called me in the middle of the night just to bring me to a wall? He didn't answer. Instead, he extended his claws. They protruded from his fingers till they were about 4" long. Odessa couldn't help but be jealous. How easy for him to do that when she had never in her life Been able to perform a simple wolf transformation, such as bringing forth her wolf's glowing eyes. Answer me, Alaric. Odessa stomped her foot, the sound reverberating throughout the huge building. Alaric ignored her, inserting his claws into the wall. Dust fell off, revealing a round seal. Odessa kept quiet, her focus on what was unfolding in front of her. Alaric turned his claws in a clockwise direction, making it creak like a door was behind the huge wall. And to Odessa's shock, she witnessed the huge wall seem to fall off. Revealing an intricately designed brown door. Claw scratches appeared on the door, and Odessa believed it was a werewolf who caused them. But that didn't diminish the quality and beauty of this door. I told you, I cannot tell you, but rather show you, Alaric said, pushing open the door slowly. Odessa hesitated, but her curiosity got the better of her. She feared what was behind the scratched door, but still wanted to see it. That's when she saw it. A graveyard. No, it was numerous large graves. Odessa's mind reeled as she saw what was in front of her. Desmond didn't tell you the whole truth, Bella. He left a huge part of it. What was this? Odessa looked at the high gravestone that towered above her. Numerous names were engraved on each gravestone. What are these? Who are these people? Odessa asked, worry itching deep into her soul. Alaric looked deep into her eyes as they reflected the graveyard. These are all the people the Alpha has killed. Odessa's eyes opened in shock at what he said. What? This... this is too much. Odessa shook her head as she saw thousands of names on each gravestone, all lining up sequentially. He killed all these people during his bloodlust. Odessa's eyes opened wide for the hundredth time that night. How did you know? Des told her that only limited people knew about his bloodlust. He had kept it secret from everyone in the pack. Alaric smirked. I know more than you could ever think. Odessa's heart raced as she realized there was more to Alaric. Who is he? Des told her about how many people he had killed, thousands of people, but never this much. She marveled at the number of names there. After he regains his control, he regrets everything and pays respect by engraving their names here. His tone was indifferent. That beast. Alaric slammed on the gravestone, causing a huge c***k to appear. Odessa didn't know how to feel. How did Alaric know about all this? And most of all, why does he care? Why are you telling me this? Odessa softly asked, her tone indifferent. Alaric looked at her. His stare was strong and dangerous. Because I want you to know what kind of monster he is. Odessa shook her head. Desmond was not a monster. He was the kindest person who saw her for who she was. He's not a monster. Not anymore. She couldn't believe what she was hearing, especially from Alaric. But was Desmond capable of such a thing? Why do you want me to believe you? She narrowed her eyes at him. You want me to hate my husband and accept you. Odessa gave him a deadpan look. Alaric finally smiled. Well, that's a good idea. Odessa squeezed her face at him, not looking happy at his words. But I want you to be safe, he said while looking sorrowfully at the gravestone. Odessa looked at the specific gravestone he was looking at. It was different from the other gravestones. Others had thousands of names on a single gravestone. But this one only held one name. Why is this one different? It only bears one name, she said, walking closer to Alaric. Let's just say this one was special. He said while tracing his hands through the specific engraved name. Odessa looked at him, his expression grave. Why was he sad? With a longing look on his face. Odessa looked at the name, squinting her eyes to see it. Ellady Thornton Frost. Who is she? Alaric coughed, trying to wipe away an escaped tear that fell off. She was my sister. She was the wife of Alpha Desmond before he killed her.
