Calista
The house was quiet when I returned, I was about to walk to my room to change before starting with the dinner.
“Where were you?” A voice came from the dining table, I was startled. I clutched my necklace and turned around to find my mother’s sharp eyes set on me. I took a deep breath and stood at my place, my heart pounding in my chest.
“I was at work.”
She turned her wrist and gazed at her watch. “I will ask you again, where were you Calista?” Her teeth gritted in anger.
“I took a stroll on the way that’s why I got a bit late. I will get started with the dinner, right away.” I quickly answered her to avoid any more speculations and punishment from her.
“Don’t exploit this chance, Calista. Do I need to remind you…”
