CHAPTER - 27 “

Selena kept staring at herself in the mirror; she didn’t know whether this particular dress was appropriate for the occasion. It was Sean’s birthday, he was another year older and she was still eighteen and a bit for from her own. She had been waiting for this day for weeks and she was glad that the day had finally arrived.

“ You look gorgeous baby; we should go downstairs. Our guest are already waiting for us, “ Sean said as he wrapped his arms around her.

“ Do you think so? Isn’t it a bit too long? “ she asked worried about the length of her dress.

“ It’s better this way, I wouldn’t want to have a fight with someone gawking at your lovely legs because you are wearing something short, “ Sean said and she just laughed. How can he have such lewd thoughts for a grown up man like him?

“ If you say so, then I will go out like this. Who came for the party? “ she asked as she turned around to face him.

“ Just a few friend of mine and Vivian, “ he replied.

“ I hope I won’t embarrass you, “ she said as she wrapped her arms around his waist.

“ You will never do that honey, ‘ he said as he planted a kiss on her forehead.

“ We should head out then, “ she encouraged her husband; she didn’t want the guest to think that they were deliberately avoiding them.

Sean held her hand and the two of them left the master bedroom for the banquet hall where the party was being held. The hall was full packed with faces that she haven’t seen and never saw before. It was a good thing that an event planner had done this with so little of her help. She wasn’t made for this but she was going to enjoy it as well.

She smiled and greeted all the guest that had came to her husbands birthday. She spotted Vivian who as busy talking to Victor and she walked gracefully towards her. She wouldn’t act in the way she was used to, there were so many people in the hall and she had to maintained her reputation at all costs.

Selena hugged her friend and the two girls kissed each other’s cheeks before giving each other that crazy stare.

“ You look aching and glowing, “ Vivian said as she looked at her.

“ Thanks you, and so do you, ‘ Selena said back to her friend.

“ There are so many older people here, if it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have come, “ Vivian complained and Selena laughed.

“ There is nothing I can do about it, just wait for a little while and we will have time to ourselves, |’ Selena promised her friend.

“ I will trust you this time, “ Vivian said with a smile.

“ You should after all who treats you better than I? “ Selena said jokingly to her friend.

“ There is no one else besides you my friend. I think you have to go, “ Vivian said while looking her back.

“ Why? “ Selena asked as she turned her head around. Selena noticed that her husband was looking at her and he probably wanted her to be there.

“ Just go, I will be safe here, “ Vivian said urging her to go to her husband.

“ I will join you shortly, “ Selena said and walked to her husband.

She smiled at Sean and his colleagues he was with at that moment.

“ This is my beloved wife Selena and these are my colleague’s babe, “ she smiled at the gentlemen she had not seen when she came in earlier.

“ It’s nice to meet you gentlemen, “ she said as she greeted the two men who seemed to be closed to her husband.

He seemed to be friendly to everyone; he was a very popular person when she realized it.

“ The honor is all ours. You managed to make this man settle down, we just couldn’t wait to see you, ‘ the other man said.

Upon hearing that Selena found herself blushing, how can they say something like that to her?

“ You are making her shy, you see? “ Sean said as he pulled her closer to him.

“ Stop it, “ she protested in a lower voice but he completely ignored her.

The birthday ceremony officially began, the birthday song was sung with the people in the room. She sand along with them as she stood by hissed in the front. In front of them was the three tier vanilla and strawberry cake; that was a cake she helped to order since she couldn’t bake one.

After the song, Sean blew off the candles and everyone applauded. She couldn’t believe how old he was now. He made her look like his daughter by aging like this.

Sean and Selena held hands and made the first cut of the cake and when they done the catering people were now responsible doe everything going forward. Presents began to flow, she was seeing a lot of things and she wasn’t even holding a present. Will he be angry at her for not giving him a present?

She walked away to get herself a glass of juice, her stomach was rumbling again. She was hungry and she needed food as soon as possible but she had to wait until it was time for them to eat, but she just couldn’t wait.

“ Have this, ‘ Sean said as he approached to her.

Selena turned to face her husband and smiled as she saw what he was holding.

“ How did you get it? “ she asked as she was pleased with what her husband had done.

“ I am the owner and man of the night so I can do whatever I want, and besides I will not let my wife starve because they are done slicking the cake, ‘ he responded and she just smiled at him.

She took the small plate from her husband’s hands and dig into the cake that he had been given.

“ You just a soul. I was about to faint, “ she said feeling excited because of the food. At this rate she was going to be so fat by eating so much like this.

“ But are you okay? “ he asked her sounding worried.

“ What do you mean? “ she asked wanting to clarify if what he was talking about.

“ You have been eating a lot nowadays. I hope that you are not sick or something. Should we go and visit the hospital for a check up? “ her husband suggested and she knew that she was about to be caught.
