The heavy iron cover on the roof of the lair jingled heavily, and Andronikos shifted with restless energy. Just above the roof, the sentinels pulled at the chains holding the covering in place, until the round iron slid back, leaving a wide hole that gave way to the sky above. Bright sunlight filtered in, falling across the dragon’s shiny scales. Vaelora could swear that she noticed Andronikos’ scales shimmer a bright golden color. Andronikos crouched low, his wings spreading wide across the lair. Then, with a huge push of his legs, he shot upwards.
