Haris had found himself smiling as he replied, “I don’t know how I feel about you lying to your parents but I’m game with teaching you everything I know, in exchange for your legendary weapons training.” More seriously, he added, “It seems like things are changing anyway. It would be nice to have someone around to talk to.”
“Good,” she said, with a smile, and the silence stretched on for a few awkward moments.
“So…” Haris prodded, “are you going to kiss me again or—"
“When you’re better,” she interjected with a roll of her eyes.
“Actually, I’m feeling quite well,” Haris said, sitting up on his elbows. “Honestly,” he threw back the blanket, “I’ve never been better.”
Mitra’s laugh brought out his own and Haris had a feeling he wouldn’t be alone anymore.
