She Froze.

“Is this how it usually is?” Isabel asked wide-eyed as she made herself comfortable on my bed, scooting closer to me as much as her bulging belly could allow.
“What do you mean?” My forehead pinched together in a confused frown.
“I mean… " She tried to find the right words, and when she settled on something, she asked. “I don't mean to butt into your relationship life or something, but Rowan just sent you upstairs as if you were a petulant child, and you just obeyed.”
“What good will it do if I opposed him?” I didn't understand what she was getting at. “He is obviously tired and stressed from work, why would I want to compound that by starting a fight with him?”
