Greg pulled back just slightly from Betty, his gaze searching her face, his eyes glassy as he struggle to speak but unable to let out words. The silence between them felt like a wound, deep and aching but in the quiet, there was a sort of reconciliation, unsaid but understood. Betty’s voice cracked as she spoke again. “I thought you were dead…all this time. I thought…” Greg reached out a hand, gently cupping her cheek and she leaned into it. His tears falling down. Pete’s eyes softened as he watched the reunion a lump forming in his throat. He stepped forward to welcome Greg and so did Ruby. “Uncle Greg” They both chorused and he turned to them. Without hesitation, they went in for a warm embrace, feeling elated to see him after all these years. Everyone else watched the reunion
