Chapter 4

1206 Words
Ruby stands in front of Krista, who smiles sheepishly at her. "Ruby, right?" Krista asks. "Yes, I am. And you are?" Ruby asks with a smile. "I'm Krista," she replies, moving closer to Ruby, but Logan steps in front of them. "She's nobody. What are you doing here?" he asks in a hoarse voice. "I'm here to deliver your sportswear. Ryder is busy, so I had to bring it," Ruby explains. Logan grabs the bag from her hand and turns to head to the gym. The bell rings to notify them that lunch break is over, and Ruby quickly follows Logan, her eyes fixed on his back as he strides down the hallway. As she turns a corner, she spots him entering the boys' locker room and pauses, wondering if it's alright to follow him inside. "Ruby, is it?" a woman dressed in a blue dress calls out, approaching her with a smile. Ruby tilts her head, surprised by the woman's intimate tone, and turns to her with a grim face. "I'm Mrs. Johnson, a friend of your late mother's from high school," she introduces, stretching out her hand. Ruby sneaks a sigh, already finding the conversation uncomfortable. "I'm so happy you're here as our Luna. Our packs will finally unite into one big world," Mrs. Johnson says with excitement, and Ruby flashes a smile in response. "Oh, right, I heard you're an instructor back in your pack. Do you mind a part-time job here as one of our trainers? We could use your skills," Mrs. Johnson asks, and Ruby hesitates, unsure how to respond. "I'll think about it," she finally concludes. Mrs. Johnson nods. "Great! I'll send an email with more details to aid your decision then," she says and walks away. Ruby quickly enters the locker room before someone else sees her there and looks around the locker-filled room for Logan. However, she is startled to see Logan standing in front of her, his clothes off. Ruby jumps back, hiccuping, and covers her face with her hands. "Oh, I'm so sorry!" Logan raises an eyebrow, a sneer spreading across his face. "You saw everything last time," he grumbles without a care. Ruby's eyelid flies open. "You...you denied it yesterday!" she exclaims, almost yelling. Logan ignores her, heading towards the bathroom, and Ruby rushes after him, fuming. "You're a sicko, Logan! How could you lie about that?" she shouts after him. Logan pauses when he gets to the door and suddenly turns around, almost bumping into Ruby. She stumbles backward, but Logan quickly catches her, his hands grasping her waist as he pulls her towards him. Ruby's hands land on his firm chest, and she feels his heartbeat beneath her fingertips. Staring at him now with a clear head, Ruby stares at his chiseled chest, his muscles well-defined already, and it feels like he also works out. Ruby's eyes widen a little as she takes in the sight of his bare torso, and she feels a flush rise to her cheeks. He doesn't look seventeen. "Enjoying the view, Ruby?" Logan asks, his gaze fixed on her. Ruby's face grows hotter, and she immediately moves her hands away, casting her gaze behind him and sees the bathroom sign. Her mouth hangs open as she realizes Logan might misunderstand her intentions. Logan sees her discomfort but instead smirks. "Do you want to take a bath together?" he asks. Ruby's eyes snap back to his, her face burning with embarrassment, and she is surprised that she lets him fool her many times already. "I'll wait outside," she says, not willing to leave until she resolves the issue she came for, and turns away to leave, but hears voices. Two, three, or more people are coming towards them. Ruby realizes they are heading into the locker room, and before she can think, Logan grabs her hand and pulls her into one of the bathrooms. They wait quietly, listening to the sounds of the others undressing. Ruby's heart pounds in her chest as she stands close to Logan, her hand still clasped in his. She feels the same sensation she had felt that night, and immediately withdraws her hand from his. A footstep approaches them, and Ruby's heart almost stops. She doesn’t know why she is so nervous about it and finds herself holding onto Logan again. “Is someone here?” a voice queries. “I’m in here,” Logan answers swiftly, and Ruby wants to kick him, but he stops her. “Okay,” the voice comes again, and the person steps away from the door, followed by the others. Ruby turns to Logan, her voice barely above a whisper. "Why did you deny knowing me yesterday? Did you have any idea how shocked I was?" she decides to let out her questions without holding back. Logan's expression turns neutral, and unreadable for her. "I wouldn’t know," he mutters back, his eyes prying on her plump lips. "Are…" Ruby sees his lips come down on hers like a predator, willing to swallow up its prey, and is taken aback, but she responds. Her hand holds onto him naturally, and she deepens the kiss. Ruby feels she might lose it after a few seconds before Logan stops and uses his thumb to wipe off the sign of the kiss, his alluring breath falling on her face. "Did you kiss him?" Logan asks, his eyes searching hers. Ruby stares at him perplexed, "Hmm?" she mouths. Logan's expression turns stern with a furrow on his face. "Did you sleep with Ryder?" he asks, his voice laced with jealousy that he has been trying to suppress all day. Ruby's eyes turn gloom, and she feels a surge of anger, but more at herself than at Logan. She came here to find him to amend her wrong from the other night and not to encourage something like it to happen again. She pulls away from him, hoping her voice would be firm. "I am sorry about what happened between us before. I didn’t realize you were Ryder’s brother and underage at that. If I had known, I would have never done that with you," she says, her lips compressed, like a vice tightening. If Logan actually decided to reveal the matter to Ryder or anyone else, then her reputation was at stake. But Logan's face darkens at her words, his eyes like a storm cloud gathering. "So, you would have slept with anyone else?" he asks, his voice dripping with anger, and Ruby is shaken off by his question. Shouldn’t he be more bothered about something else? Why this? Ruby shakes her head calmly, "No, I probably wouldn’t have, but…" she pauses, unsure what to say that wouldn’t make her seem like someone loose. Logan's expression turns even more menacing. "But what?" he demands, his tone commanding and terrifying. Ruby falls intimidated, and takes a deep breath. "I’m just sorry for taking advantage of you." Logan sighs. His face twists in anger. "You didn’t answer my question," he growls, and walks out of the closet, picking up his clothes. Ruby stands stunned and confused for a few seconds but hurries out of the room quickly before others come in again and returns back.
