Lexi woke up to the sound of her phone buzzing on her nightstand. She groggily reached over to silence it, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. As she sat up in bed, she realized that she was still wearing her dress from the charity gala. She vaguely remembered leaving the gala with Ethan, but the rest of the night was a blur.
She looked around her room, trying to piece together the events of the previous night. Her shoes were scattered on the floor, and her purse was lying open on the dresser. Lexi's head was pounding, and she couldn't shake off the feeling of unease.
As she swung her legs over the side of the bed, Lexi's phone buzzed again. She picked it up, seeing a text message from Ethan.
"Good morning, beautiful," the message read. "I hope you're feeling okay after last night. Would love to see you again soon."
Lexi felt a flutter in her chest as she read the message. She couldn't believe that she had spent the night with Ethan, and she couldn't wait to see him again. But as she looked around her room, she realized that she had no memory of coming home. Had Ethan brought her home? And what had happened after they left the gala?
Lexi's mind was racing with questions as she got out of bed and began to get ready for the day. She took a long, hot shower, trying to wash away the lingering effects of the previous night. As she dressed and made her way to the kitchen, she couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off.
She made herself a cup of coffee and sat down at the table, trying to piece together the events of the previous night. She remembered leaving the gala with Ethan, but everything after that was a blur. Had they gone back to his place? And what had happened after they got there?
As she sat there, sipping her coffee and trying to remember, Lexi's phone buzzed again. This time, it was a call from her best friend, Rachel.
"Hey, girl," Rachel said, her voice bubbly and cheerful. "How was the gala? Did you meet anyone interesting?"
Lexi hesitated, unsure of how much to reveal. "It was good," she said finally. "I met someone, but I'm not really sure what happened after that."
Rachel's voice turned serious. "What do you mean? Did something happen with this guy?"
Lexi sighed, feeling a wave of frustration wash over her. "I don't know," she said. "I just don't remember. We left the gala together, but everything after that is a blur."
There was a pause on the other end of the line, and for a moment, Lexi wondered if Rachel was still there.
"Lexi, I think you need to be careful," Rachel said finally. "You don't remember what happened, and that's not like you. Maybe you should try to stay away from this guy for a while."
Lexi felt a surge of defensiveness, but she knew Rachel was just trying to help. "I'll be fine," she said. "I just need to figure out what happened."
As she hung up the phone, Lexi couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off. She didn't remember what had happened the night before, and now Rachel was warning her to stay away from Ethan. Lexi's mind was racing with questions, and she was determined to find out the truth.
