Gio:
I kept glancing back at the hospital in the rearview window.
I should have at least asked her for her name, I thought to myself. She seemed so confident but gentle in the same way. She probably knitted and read books in her free time as she sipped on tea. Despite her devilish looking body, she seemed so innocent. Her ass accented her tinier waist, but she wasn’t necessarily skinny but thick in all the right places. All I could do was picture myself bending her over and having my way with her. Grabbing onto her hips and corrupting her in everyway possible. This woman had a hold on me, as Tony said before I needed to get laid and soon! That hopefully would get the girl out of my mind.
I shifted the way I sat in the passenger seat of Mario’s car and grabbed my phone out of my pocket. Scrolling through my contacts, I looked through the catalog of potential booty-calls. No one stuck out, and my stomach churned at the thought of touching another woman. I only wanted to touch the gorgeous doctor.
I huffed in frustration making Mario glance over at me.
“What’s going on Boss?” he questioned.
“Nothing!” I growled back in response.
“Whatever you say.” Was his only reply. We rode in silence until we pulled into the family gym.
“Her last name is May. I can probably get you some other information on her if you truly want it but talking to you as a friend… Be Careful!” Mario said.
“I just want to keep tabs on her, especially after she helped Helen.” I half-lied.
“Whatever you say, just give me a couple hours to sleep then I’ll do some digging.” He yawned.
“Let’s debrief and then all head home, it’s been a long night.” We walked into the conference room next to my office, majority of my men were passed out on various chairs. It would be a funny sight to see if it wasn’t for the circumstances.
“Up!” I commanded my voice booming throughout the room.
Everyone awoke ready to strike at any moment.
“How’s Tony?” Asked Lorenzo. The men around him all looking at me, awaiting a response.
“He’s stable, they got the bullet out and he is in the hospital now healing.” I reassured everyone. “We need to get to work figuring out who the men in black are and who they work for. You all can go home and sleep, but I need everyone back tomorrow ready to work.”
Seconds later, everyone was leaving the gym heading home. Lucas, one of my soldiers stayed behind.
“Have you heard anything about Doc?” He asked.
I totally forgot about him, I thought. I’m always 5-steps ahead - always. My brain is rattled, it’s not like me to forget.
Clearing my throat I say, “We are looking into it, do you want to investigate and report back to me?”.
“Yes, sir!” He replied and scampered off.
He reminded me a lot of myself when I was first getting into the “family business”, he was eager and hungry – exactly what we needed.
I found my father sitting in my office and poured him a glass of whiskey.
“You looked shook son.” He commented.
We sat in silence for the longest time, the clock on the wall creating the only sound.
“Get some boxing in before you head home, you need a clear mind to be a good leader.” He said leaving my office.
Knowing he was right; I took off my suit and changed into sweatpants and a hoodie. I hopped into the boxing ring and started shadow boxing. Once I was satisfied with my warmup, I turned to the heavy hanging bags. Combo after combo, punch after punch I kept pushing myself making the bag sway back and forth. All my aggression and anger were directed towards my target. I probably would have kept hitting it for hours if it wasn’t for my phone ringing.
Ring, Ring. Helen was calling.
“Hello.” I answered.
“Hey Gio, I wanted to let you know that they will be releasing Tony tomorrow as long as he keeps improving and promises to return if he gets a fever.”
“That’s great news, thanks Helen. Ummm… I got to go” I said.
I hung up the phone and returned to my heavy bag. The sun lit up the gym, washing away the morning darkness. My eyes adjusted to the brightness and caught the attention of all the gold belts lining the wall. My belts. Since I was young enough to hold up my gloves, I’ve been boxing. In my twenties I spent majority of my time fighting in smokers and competitions. I won every single time, I still have the undefeated record but decided the family business was more important than being the best in the ring. The clock on the wall struck noon and I knew I needed to get some rest soon. I finally felt more at peace with myself after my workout and felt my body begin to tire. It was time to head home and sleep.
