Summary Chapter 32

125 Words

Many people have given up the search. Mrs. Thatcher falls into a delirium. One day the village bells announce that the children have been found. Tom gives an embellished account of the incident. Tom had found a third passage that leads to sunlight. He went back for Becky. Tom flagged down a skiff. They were five miles down from where the cave entrance began. The men who rescue them feed them and bring them home. Both children suffer from exhaustion. Tom learns that Injun Joe's accomplice had drowned. Judge Thatcher tells Tom that nobody will get lost in the cave again. He has locked its front entrance, and only he has the keys. That is when Tom remembers that Injun Joe is in the cave.
