Chapter 3
Dr.Freddie was on his way back home after visiting Mr.Blue's family.He had received a call in the middle of the night from Mr.Blue and he needed him urgently.He paid a quick visit only to find that Mr.Blue's son was having a stomach ache.He quickly attended to him and he was heading back home in Mashimoni;an area in Kibra slum from Kileleshwa.He was Mr.Blue's personal doctor and he had to perform his duties.
On his way he spotted blood drops which directed him to a ditch."Please help!"This were the voices he heard from the ditch.On closer look he saw an injured body lying inside.He quickly called for help.The crowd filled the area.They slowly lifted the body out and placed it inside Dr.Freddie personal car and it took off.The next stop was made at Mbagathi hospital.
The sun's rays were now out.The body was quickly taken to Intensive Care Unit.The doctors had not yet arrived and the nurses took their actions.Dr.Freddie stood outside the ICU room in panic."What about if he dies."He asked himself.
The nurses began coming out of the room.The last nurse ask him to stay still."We have done our part,let us wait for the doctor to arrive.""Ok,may I take my leave and I will be back in a short time." He said."No problem."The nurse replied.
He quickly took his car and left the area.He had received a call from Mr.Blue and was on his way.When he arrived at Mr.Blue's homestead,he was warmly welcomed.However,Mr.Blue was shocked when he spotted blood stains in the back seat."What's the meaning of this?"He asked angrily.Dr.Freddie gave him the explanation."What!where is the boy right now?"He asked.The two took the car and took off.They made their stop at the hospital."Hurry up!"Mr.Blue commanded.They headed to the reception desk."Where is the boy this man brought this morning."Mr.Blue asked pointing at Dr.Freddie.
"I am sorry sir,the boy is still in the ICU and the doctor has not yet arrived."The lady replied with a soft voice."What,is that how you treat people here,give me the transfer letter and give me my patient."Mr.Blue commanded."Ok sir,wait for me here."The lady left and was back with a letter on his hand and accompanied by a nurse who was pushing Elvis on a wheelchair."Here it is"The lady handed it out to him.
Mr.Blue,Dr.Freddie and Elvis left the hospital and headed to Coptic Mission.Elvis was well received by the nurses and taken to ICU.The doctor paid him a visit and promised that he will recover.
Few weeks later Elvis was discharged from the hospital.Dr.Freddie was happy to have him back.However,he still needed someone to coach him on how to walk.Dr.Freddie promised to take responsibility.Later on Mr.Blue paid a visit and was happy.Elvis had no words to help prove his thanks.Mr.Blue promised to have Elvis educated.Elvis was to stay with Dr.Freddie as they search for a school for him.
Few weeks later,Elvis was enrolled at Toi primary school.He joined class seven with the help of Mr.Blue and Dr.Freddie.His dreams started to light up again.However,the time he had wasted out there in the streets had lowered his thinking capacity at a certain amount.
Elvis made new friends such as John,Nancy and Gabriel.The three helped him forget of his past life and begin a new life.He spent most of his time with them.They also introduced him to Bible studies which they attended every Sunday.He began seeing the importance of life again.
Time flies Elvis was a candidate waiting to sit for his National examination.He knew he was well prepared and was ready to face the exam.The exams were here,Elvis did his best and when the result was out he had 354 marks.This was a huge celebration to Dr.Freddie and Mr.Blue.The two promised to have Elvis join a Secondary school.Elvis was happy and promised not to let them down.
Arrangements were made and Elvis was set to join Shiners Boys High school in Nakuru county.
